  1. I don't think I would ever buy from Kingsley. I don't see the point of paying such a premium. I know some may argue that if things go wrong then servicing is troublesome but I'am not overly concerned about that...Getting the Stax O2 and 007t II combo at $6000 for lets say a non regular is insane...I paid around $2380 for my O2 and lets say I get an amp that's around the $2300 price range, that'll equate to only---$4600+/- I don't see the need for a $1400 premium.

Alternatively, this is like telling locals to get the E500 for $800 when u could place an order online for only $660(that is if u know which site to buy from...)

    Hi Razer,

I have to agree with u on the $1400 premium and wish you would enjoy your new purchases to the fullest. But one thing to take note is the voltage used and whether, the oversea dealer that you are buying the item is an authorised STAX dealer in that country.

  2. Hi...there

    just really want to know

    MS-PRO compared with STAX 4040A :cans::cans:

    which one's value for investment ? :thumbup::thumbup:

    Hi Ekka,

My -2ct would be as follows:

    Price

Ms-pro should be at around $1100-$1200 while Stax 4040(amp + hp) should be around $2600-$2700.

    Sonic

Ms-pro should be fast n forward n into your face type but not as bright as grado. Thus it's quite even and controlled.

Stax should be fast n spacious, good headstage(tall, deep and wide), quite haunting if you have records that play with placement and it got no lack of bass.

    Value

They are of different flavour. Both justifies their price tags, thus it's up to your budget.

  3. Denon DVD-3910 DVD-Audio/Video/SACD Player 800+ USD

Burr-Brown 24-bit, 192-kHz DSD-1796 Audio DACs that decode PCM and DSD signals discretely with no cross-conversion of DSD

    izo r.spec iHA-1

The iHA-1 is a desktop headphone amp which features build-in DAC. PCM1796, 24bit/192kHz,

    comparing the two..

using the same DAC would mean from CD bits " 101001... " to analog output. would have the same sound SQ ??

    Hi again StussyK,

You have already answered the question yourself. the iHA-1 don't have CD, DVD-audio, DVD-video, SACD, VCD, etc.

As for whether the DAC is similar, I think you will have check the Burr Brown web site as there may be some variation as the Denon one is with DSD decoding.

    Have a nice weekend.

  4. guess thats true .. however i always ponder an all in one usually kinda suck when the format war changes again.. u think cd n sacd will become obselete ?

    Hi StussyK,

They will only be obsoleted when no one buying them. The SACD is already 6 years old and CD is more than 2 decades. The LP(album) is even more 'senior' than them and it's still going strong.

  5. I'm looking for a headphone with budget around $100.Browse this forum and some others and finally

    Hi AhDui,

The TS wants 'Hard' music, maybe big and oversize hp will do the job, your recommendations not 'Hard' enough.

  6. have partnered the 701 with cayin (tube rolled with mullards), xiangsheng 708B, diy RA-1, porta corda mk1 and diva amp.

never liked it with either xiangsheng or RA-1, seems like can't bring the 701 to life.

interestingly the porta corda, especially with wall wart, can drive the 701 rather well. i actually preferred it to the xiangsheng or RA-1

remembered that it went very well with the cayin, especially on guitars and other string instruments ...

diva amp also does a good job in driving it. pity i had sold my cayin, hence couldn't do a direct comparison with the diva amp ...

    as usual ymmv ...

    Hi flemingoh,

would like to read a detail review for diva + 701 from you. Thanks!

Sorry if u misunderstood me, Mackie.

What I was trying to bring across was the idea that the flagship model, shouldn't have such a large gap (yes, the difference is large) with just a cable upgrade... makes you wonder right? Whether it really was a good model and such, for me my opinion is that that money is not well spent, I need to purchase something else to make it sound better..

So any 3rd party upgrades shouldn't have made such a straight-in-your-face difference, at least even for non headphiles... got my idea?

    Cheers, happy listening!

Anyway what type of cables do you gurus recommend for ICs?

From cheap ones like Belden 89529 to moderate ones like Silver/copper hybrid to slightly more expensive ones..

    Hi TopGun,

That's the sort of dilemma every headphiles will face,value-for-money or sonic enhancement. This came to me when I was purchasing the zu mobius at HK HIFI show in 2004. I never regret the purchase. B)

  8. I've conducted this experiment and swapped the cables of HD600/650 but I couldn't find any significant improvement either way. This explains why Zu Mobius and Equinox cables remain sought after following the launch of HD650.

    Hi Mackie,

I tried the 600cable with senn600/senn650 and they sound indifferent. I tried the 650cable with senn600/senn650 and the bass of senn600 is 'firmer'. But the Zu Mobius ups their sound quality. :D

    YMMV.
