  1. The phone in my opinions is not that good. I bought it for the 1.1 mega pixel camera and the ability to play music. Problem was, - the quality of the pictures were worst than the 640x480 Sony Mavica that I used to have - you cannot copy MP3s directly into the Panasonic SD card that's inserted inside the phone, you have to record it directly via a normal audio or optical cable Later in december, the new 2.0 megapixel camera will come out (damn Vodafone!!). You cannot use any japanese phonees in Singapore, but for phones like mine, they wouold be ok as novelties for playing music, and taking pictures I guess. OH, I can also play JAVA games too. You cannot simply buy them from the shops as they are bounded by contracts. But, you could buy a second hand model (like mine if I choose to sell it, and I may when the newer models come out). As for the Eggos and CD3000, I haven't heard too much of the CD3000, but already the soundstage is more impressive than the Eggos because of its size and the CDs clearlly have a lot more power in reserve whereas the Eggos may give up. Yeah, its not a fair comparison, look at the price difference , Eggos 8000 yen, CD3000 40,000 yen.
  2. Why compare CD3K with Eggos? They belong to different fruit baskets and certainly not a fair fight between apples and apples. Well, the Eggos are pretty good and I still take them around with my phone : http://www.vodafone.jp/english/products/ki...isyu/j_sh53/02/ I've found them a bit uncomfortable after a while because they are kind of tight around my head (I also wear spectacles), sometimes it gets painful. So I was beginning to hate them a little. So on the road, I have the Eggos. At home, I have the CD3000. I always look forward to going back home
  3. UPDATES. Still breaking in the Sonys, had a peek of it (its now at the second stage-medium volume) and yeah its waaaaaay better than the Senns and Eggos and I haven't even turned it up yet. This Sony is gonna kick ass! One thing though, it kind of feels like a bigger Eggo, which I didn't fine comfortable after a long period of time. The senns. are clearly more comfortable to my head/ears because of the velvet pads (nice) and were lighter. The first time my friends heard/saw them they couldn't believe that it costed so much, and that it came with its own massive case. Another day or so of breaking.....
  4. I have FAT OF THE LAND, and you're right, there's enough beat and variations to make the sony work a little harder. BTW, how do I take care of the Sonys? I know they have biocellulose drivers in them, so do I need to keep them within room temperature? not too hot, not too cold? Can I keep it in the box when I'm not using them? Thanks. P.S. My next purchase..... STAX OMEGA II next year
  5. Hey thanks for the advice, but 4 days??? I thought 3 24 hour periods should be sufficient as recommended by Rameish.

Any tricks? Thanks.
  7. My senns. are nowhere to be found :-) Really, the 570s sounded trashy at high volume and couldn't really take the rock and techno stuff. The CD3000 on the other hand sounds like its got a lot to offer. I got it for 40,000 yen which is about $638.41 SG. OMG, I can't believe I spent that much on a pair of headphones!!! I must be crazy!! BTW, do you have any recommendation for suitable AMPs for the CD3000? They had AT amps, creek, luxman and CEC all varying in prices from 60,000 to 150,000 yen. I feel I do not need an AMP just yet, but perhaps I'll still get one anyway.
  8. While testing the CD3000, I found them to be much louder than the Senns. 570 and Eggos while playing on my computer (I have the NForce2 as my soundcard). Looks like I don't even need an AMP!
  9. Hi, Thanks for the feedback. I'll try a variety of music with as little break between songs as possible. Wish me luck.... er..... smells good
  10. Hi again, I would like to know what music is suitable for breaking in my new phones (CD 3000) : First stage breaking in (low volume) - What songs shall I play here? Second stage breaking in (mid volume) - What songs shall I play here? Third stage breaking in (high volume) - What songs shall I play here? I have songs from : - Sydney Olympics 2000 soundtrack (lots of classical/mild pop) - Coco Lee - Just no other way (good female vocal??) - Initial D - er... cheesy techno beaty stuff - Savage Garden - Affirmation (good male vocal??) - The Crystal Method - industrial techno, fast - Moby - Play And, a variety of (actually a lot of) : - Techno - Hip Hop - Pop sentimental stuff Basically I want to break in my phones properly, but I don't know what kind of music I should be playing. I will be looping the tracks using WINAMP from the computer and letting it play for a few days. Please give me your advice, Yoroshiku Onegai Shimasu!!! AND, what's a good affordable AMP for the CD3000? I have no idea about AMPs as I've never used them before and my source is going to be my computer (for MOVIES, ANIME, and 128-256kb MP3s). Thanks again.
  11. alright thanks guys for the feedback. they were well rated by several japanese reviewers, but the build quality may be too fragile for me (my eggos looks like a mess). will keep you inform about the 3000.
  12. Hi, Well, I'm pretty close to getting the cd3000, but i have a quesrtion about a brand called stax (STAX/SR-007 6~41,000Hz/170KΩ). Does anyone have any expeirnece with this model? It got some good ratings, but I don't really have (or have space) an amplifier and would continue to use my computer to playvack music. I know it sounds a little silly but I really would like to get one more pair of heradphones, and thats it. My senns. 570 does not do the job of playing dance/techno/rock and i need a kick ass pair of phones. The eggos are good, but getting uncomfortable. The stax are expensive, but I will take a look at them if some of you have any positive feedvacks about them. PS. sorry for the spelling misrtakes as I cut one of my finger while slicing carrots and my japanese keyboard is meesedd up.
  13. I came across a shop which sells second hand headphones. Obviously the 600 cost twice as much as the 580, but I'm thinking of buying another pair of Senns. just to add to the collection at home (Australia). I've already got 3 Senns. but I don't have high quality amps to drive them, just the normal typical stereo system (Kenwood which we also bought from Japan). These phones are very cheap and I thought that even though they are second hand, they may be worth buying/fixing. I'm buying for my brother BTW. I know I've been posting a lot about phones lately, but I'm buying the MDR3000 for certain. Thanks again.
  14. The 3000 cost 40000 yen.
  15. The MDR 3000 are excellent, however, I have been noticing another brand of headphones called STAX. What do you think of these, are they suitable for normal music and movies? Regardless, those 3000 were very good, after comparing them with Senns. HD600 and ATs. I have not been able to compare them to Beyern (sorry sp.) as I couldn't find any around. Prices for the 3000 are still pretty high though.
  16. Hi guys, I'm ready to get another headphone, and was wondering if I would be making the right choice in buyin the 3000. Its a good phone, but because its so big, i don't know if I can still wear it while lying down on a pillow watching movies. Will I be underutilising it if I am just using it for movies and HQ MP3s? Thanks again. PS. Could I buy it in Singapore and for how much? PS. BTW, my eggos are still here, but I'm beginning to find them a little uncomfortable now. I wear it almost everyday and the paint has peeled off on one side and is peeling on the other. Good cans while it lasted. May get a senns. instead as replacements.

Almost forgot to add, the EGGOS 66 have gotten my respect now. Despite its cumbersome nature, it is a razor sharp and enjoyable. Bass may be lacking for the bassheads but the sounds are fairly precise for the setup that I have (PDA, PC - no amps). For the money, get it! You won't be disappointed!

Yes I found the 3000 to be big, but it is reasonable. However, it appears to be quite fragile. You guys better be careful with it and don't drop it! The demo set at the shop was broken, I will take some pictures when I go there next time (perhaps this week?). The R10 was not there, but its not hard to find if you ask for one :-) I have been reading head-fi.org and had found one thread comparing the 7506 and the 3000. It appears that the 3000 is a superior phone to the 7506 in every way. I have also been reading a bit about the R10. I can afford to buy it, but not the high end amps or whatever (I don't have a lot of space in my place nor do I wish to carry them all over the place). The R10 is the king of the Sony phones and with a price of 350,000 yen, it had better be!!! The 3000 and R10 seems to have similar specifications, but built with different materials (both are the same size). Many have praised the 7506, it was suppose to be on top of my list actually. But the 3000 seems to be the better can and cheaper in the long run (ie. I don't need to progress as much up the headphone chain). Currently I'm reviewing the differences between the Senn. 600 and Sony 3000. After my next visit to that shop, I will let you guys know on the outcome (and some photos!).

Hi Guy, Did you end up getting the Eggos? After some time with it, I love it because its portable with the performance of a larger phone. Also, I attract a lot of attention wearing it too! Perhaps its because its one of the most expensive portable cans of its type. My Sony now has some obvious scratches on them and I still have not resolved the problem of opening and closing the cans without messing it up. Thats the only bad thing about it so far. Anyway, I'm looking closely at the 7506 and the MDR CD3000. I'm not sure who has the MDR CD3000 on this forum, but can you describe your feelings on those? I tried the demo set but that was broken and it was not very loud. I didn't notice the 7506 until i read head-fi again to recall the model name (doh!). BTW, I have found a shop that has all of these models, AKG, Sennheiser and the rest of them. WOW, I spent only 1 hour there trying all the phones. It is an excellent shop, better than hung brothers in my opinion because of its extensive range. The R10 was not there, but it looks like a very very serious pair of headphones indeed, check out the price!!! My friend almost dropped his pants seeing the price tag. I think I was most impressed with the Senn 580,590,600, a couple of AKGs. The Sonys did not seem to stand out as compared to the rest of them. I think it is because the music that they were playing were jazz stuff and were too low a volume. I'm going back to the shop to take some photos. I think this is the shop that one of you fellows wanted to see over here in Japan.

Can someone brief me on why the R10 is so good? Is it because of the hype or what? Is it the kind of phone that can replace your entire speaker systems?

Hi people, Can somebody give me some ideas of what the CD3000 is called in Japan? There are a number of models, but I can't find the CD3000. I do see alot of MDR xxx, a lot of pioneer DJ cans and Eggos. I think I saw an R10 (had a brownish cover?) but didn't try it.
  22. Gouki, if possible can give address as well. I'm going there this Friday. Want to check out some cans. Hi NO, Check out Akihabara and Shinjuku in Tokyo. They are the best places to look for headsets. You can even try them on and listen. Oh there's a mirror in case you want to know how you look :-) The Eggos D66L are hard to find, but not impossible. They sell for 8800. D22L are easier locate and a lot cheaper. Forget buying Senns, Koss etc etc. They are expensive. Seems like wireless is the go here in Japan, there are quite a number of options to choose from. I tried the top of the range Pioneer set, wasn't bad, but I think its an overkill. My Eggos (and previous wired Senns.) do the job of movie watching/playing games pretty well. Hmmmmmm......
  23. thank you thank you thank you
  24. OK thanks guys. I'm in Japan so I see what they have :-) Perhaps I should also post to head-fi.org too.
  25. I guess what I meant was, a good wireless headphones. My experiences with wireless phones is that they are great for watching movies quietly without all the wires. Wires are troublesome while moving around the room sometimes or while playing computers. Oh, I use my computer for watching movies :-) I:ve looked at the Senns. There is a wireless equivalent to the Senns. 580, but I don:t want Senns, so I:m going for Jap.
