  1. Sorry, I have no idea how much the plugs sell for. I have seen them in LHS but did not ask the price.
  2. I am not answering your query but I would recommend you look at amps with built in USB DAC, unless you have budgeted for a standalone DAC. If listening to computers, a good DAC is worth the money. Regards
  3. Not all tube amps are alike. Some tube amps have mains level AC which certainly can kill. In my mis-spent younger days, I have stuck my fingers into a broken mains socket and gotten just a buzz (and also a caning from my teacher who caught us doing it). Doesn't mean AC mains is harmless either. And some tube amps may have even higher voltages than mains. Have you seen arcing when high voltages are involved? Actually it all depends on how the current is transmitted through the body. People have been struck by lightning and survived. Also at least one person has been killed by the 9V battery in a voltmeter when he tried to measure his body's resistance. You can google this incident, it was a US Navy sailor. All in all, if you are selling equipment and you make statements like you did, are you aware you are opening yourself to lawsuits if any of your customers get hurt because they followed your advice? Think about it. Regards
  4. Very good post dacboy. Appreciate your effort. Good for future reference.
  5. Wah, mark of an excellent salesman, diplomacy! Well done lah.
  6. Don't leh, Aron. If you say you old, then what am I? Ah pek? Ancient?
  7. Good post. Don't worry, we have a ear doctor in the house! Right?
  8. Do it man, document it and then we can copy idea!

  10. Man, you are hard core! Great stuff. Who cares if they don't look great, sounding great is what matters. :-D
  11. Wow, fantastic DIY. Was thinking of doing this but couldn't figure out what material to use. Great idea to use the epoxy. With the glossy paint, it looks just like the professional customs. Gotta try this when I have the time.
  12. Have you tried LHS located in SLT?
  13. very nice review. Sadly the only time I listened to the HD800 was during the launch where the amp did not do justice to the phones.
  14. Usually a higher wattage iron will heat parts up faster and so will work better with soldering. An iron with temperature control is best.

  16. I think uni-direction mics are mostly cardioids. These pick up sound mostly from one direction. For gaming use, if you are listening to speakers, a unidirectional mic properly placed, will pick up more of your voice and less music. While an omnidirectional mic will pick up all sounds in your room, including your voice.
  17. My experiences also agrees with blackmouth0. I was once upgraded to business class once on Lufthansa and they supply Sennheisers ANC headphones. They were extremely effectively in eliminating engine noise. And I must say I can live with the sound quality. However, I use IEMs whenever I fly long distance. I play some slow tempo music, to drown out the engine noise, so I can sleep. I find OEMs more comfortable than headphones because my ears hurt from the pressure of the phones.
  18. Hi all, If you come across spam in any of the sub-forums, please don't hesitate to report to the mods. Unfortunately, I often can check the forum only when I come home. Too busy most days and some nights too. And I don't frequent all the subforums. Seems last few days, I missed some spam until some of you guys reported it. Sorry for not detecting them earlier. Please do help to make sgheadphones a clean and spam-free environment. Can the spam! Thanks guys. heady
  19. Make the rounds at Sim Lim Tower? Lots of shops selling spare parts.
  20. Oops, I returned the phones already. I know what you mean about the brain need adjustment. For a few seconds, the treble sounded coloured, like a lot of other earbuds I have tried. But it quickly disappeared, as my brain "adjusted". Some earbuds, my brain cannot adjust at all. At this price range, cannot complain. It fits into my ears a lot better than earbuds but it sounds like good earbuds. In fact the Superlux gave me an idea for DIY franken-earbuds. I will take the silicone tips holding part of my IEMs which died and graft them to the earbuds which can't stay in my ears and see what happens to the sound. Now to find the time...
