  1. Has anyone here have any experience with Firestone's Fubar II USB DAC? I'm contemplating on getting it very soon to improve the output from my laptop.
  2. Anyway updates with regards to the power buy?
  3. I'm interested. You've got PM coming your way!
  4. They've got black and silver other than blue, which IMHO is a pretty awful colour. I got myself a black one. BTW the section that sells all the stuff advertised is situated on the 5th floor so don't turn back home if you see the doors closed on the 2nd and 4th floor. I think the only section in operation is the one that sells stationary and electronics, the ones located on the 2nd and 4th floor (which is where the books are) aren't open yet.
  5. I got mine this evening but i soon realised that this isn't really my cup of tea. Can't really rock out with the small amount of bass that this buds pump out. Anyway, i think i shouldn't complain too much since i got it at that price.

Yeah, i could do that too but i would like the option of listening my music from my hifi too. I'm now contemplating seriously on the m-audio audiophile USB. That way, i'll just connect my cans to it which could also be connected to my hifi.
  7. I own a FC7 and i would say it probably gives what you've paid. Sound's pretty decent and definitely fun but it's not as analytical or detailed. In fact, bass might a bit too boomy for some. Isolation is pretty good for a set of circumaural headphone and it blocks out outside noise pretty well. However, this isolation is the result of a pretty tight fitting between the ears and drivers so it's not really the most comfortable set in the world but for 1 or 2 hours of travels, it should fit the bill. I do not own a SR60 but i would not recommend it for portable use due to the fact that it's open. I have a MS-1 and it leaks a lot of sound in and out of the cans and although i might be ok to some, i personally cannot stand it when i'm outside. And that's why i'm still using my trust FC7 for portable uses (until i get my hands on a Sony 7506/V6). However, it's undeniable that the sound quality from Grados is much more superior as compared to the FC7.
  8. Bump with a mini clarification. Prices stated above includes shipping and handling to Singapore.
  9. Ok. I'm wondering if there's anyone who's looking for a Sendstation Pocketdock w/USB. I'm going to order it but if we could get 3, we can shave a few bucks off the retail price and the shipping. Retail price of one is 35.75USD while the retail for a bundle of 3 cost 82.95USD while would translate to 27.65USD each! Do post or PM me if anyone's interested! EDIT: ALL BUYERS FOUND Thank you!
  10. Thanx for the info. Unfortunately, i'm looking for the USB ver and the one on Echoloft is the FW one. In any case, i guess i've got no choice but to acquire it direct from sendstation.
  11. I'm looking for a Sendstation Pocketdock for my ipod. Is there anywhere in Singapore that retails this item? Or do i have to go to the overseas market to get it? Please advice. Thanx!
  12. Hey Moses, do you know how do they sound through low impedence headphones like SR-60 or MS-1? How much do they improve the sound?
  13. I'm into metal (not so much perfect circle kinda melo-atmospheric type but those fast pounding metalcore type like The Haunted, Soilworks, Trivium yada yada type) and I strongly recommend the MS-1. Although not closed and just a tad bit bass shy as compared to most closed cans, they protray sheer tenacity on the mids and highs. And of course, the details is simply amazing. There's so much details that if you think St Anger (Metallica) is a one of the most crappily produced album, you'll think that it IS is the MOST crappily produced album with EVER. The details exposed all the "tin can pounding" of Lars sound so clearly that it sucked more than ever. On the bright side, most guitars sound especially sweet on the MS-1. both warm and tight. And they sound good even when unamped. I'm gonna get condemned for this but.. I run it straight out of my laptop and they sounded great.
  14. It's Gramophone warehouse sale. I was there just now and got myself: Metallica - Garage Inc Lostprophets - Start Something Korn - Take a look into the mirror Most CDs are going for $9.90. Double CDs go for $14.90 and Triple CDs $17.90 (i think..). There're more recent releases which go for $12.90-$14.90. Anyway selection is rather limited but for $9.90, i'm not complaining.

    Laptop as source

Ok. I've gave careful thought into my laptop sound and i think i'll settle for either of the following seup: Setup 1: Laptop USB -> USB soundcard (DAC) -> mini hifi -> Headphone amp -> MS1 Setup 2: Laptop USB -> USB soundcard (DAC) -> MS1 Is anyone using this sort of setup? For setup1, will the long route from the source to the final product (headphones) degredate the sound? For setup 1, i'm planning to get either a M-audio transit or sonica. I've heard that the sonica and transit aren't really good amps for headphones so that's why i'm putting them through another headphone amp via my mini-hifi, through which i can enjoy the music through the speakers. For setup 2, i think i'll most probably get a M-audio audiophile USB, through which my MS1 will be plugged directly. It will also be connected to my hifi from the analog out. Opinions anyone?
  16. Thanks for the reply Absolute0. I think i get the idea now. OK, maybe the details aren't amplified but are just being reproduced as intended by the producer. However, different cans tend to reproduce the same music differently. For example, grados/alessandros gives a more in-your-face effect while senns are more layed back with a larger soundstage. There are also other cheaper commercial headphones which boost the bass like portapros and ATH FC7. I believe all these effects are known as "colour", right? Therefore is it not right to say that cans have the capability to alter the presentation of the music? Meaning, it is impossible to get what the original representation unless we have the producer next to us advising us of the setup?
  17. Dude, if we can save on shipping and thus total cost, i wouldn't mind but (as i've told you the last time) we must really be careful of the taxation of the items when they're shipped in.
  18. First and foremost, i would like to thank nakedtoes for doing a few of us a favour for lugging our alessandros all the way from Taiwan. Anyway on to the main point of this topic which is with regards to the sound production of Alessandro (and Grado i would think). Before i bought my MS1, i read people praising Grado headphones for its awesome capability to pick out details. Low and behold, after burning in my MS1 for quite a while, i'm starting to hear more and more those teeny weeny twicks, crashes, effects etc etc and i'm thoroughly amazed. That set me thinking. In order that we hear such details, i believe these details are amplified. Sometimes such details are even brought forward to certain levels which equals that of the main music sections. Am i right to say that the details are amplified? If so, is that the way that music should be listened to i.e. to hear all those amplified details? Is that the intention of the music production? Or are those details just suppose to stay at the background? Of course, don't get me wrong. I love my MS-1. Really smoothens out lots of guitar works which i listen most of the time. Not to mention the tightness of the basslines and trebles. Just want to see your (professional) opinions on this issue with regards to details.
  19. I'll be taking a dive into Little Dot II next month so I guess it'll probably in Junly when i get the amp since he needs time to assemble one. I'll do a review with my amateur ears then. In the meantime, some dude on head-fi has already gotten it and he did a mini review on it. Here's the link.
  20. I''ve e-mailed the guy and he quoted me 368RMB for the amp plus 230RMB for postage by DHL so that adds up to a total of 598RMB (about 120-130SGD). Pretty cheap for a tube amp if you ask me. He also said there's a choice between 4 colours (gold, silver, black or blue). I wouldn't mind a mass order but i can only commit next month so if you guys don't mind waiting, we can try to arrange something out?
  21. According to what i read on head-fi, these amps are only made-on-order so i wouldn't expect them to be sold on shelves.
  22. What? RMB368 for a tube amp?? Time to drop this chap a mail. BTW I'm just curious, can amplifiers made overseas work with our power supply here Singapore since different countries have differnbt voltage levels.
