  1. If you are going to spend 2-3K on a pair of floor standers, try audition the Vienna acoustic line of speakers. For the amount, you try the Mozart, Bach or the Hayden(bookself). I had the old Mozart (not the new Grand series). Generally I prefer the Vienna acoustic line of speakers with solid state amplifiers. BTW, what amp and cdp are you using?
  2. Guess if you are really on a budget, then go ahead with viix recommendations. If your speakers are not that heavy, you could try the Cerapuc for your rack. For your speakers you can go with spikes. I am using spikes for my speakers. Only for the rack, I use the Cerabase.
  3. I can't remember the exact costs of the cerabase. It was between $700-$800 dollars. However be careful when you are handling the cerabase, if you drop it on your equipment, it may just leave more than a dent.
  4. I use the Finite elemente cerabase for my rack. http://www.finite-elemente.de/en/products/cerabase
  5. My opinion? I did not give any opinion.... Just asking you to be more specific in your post to help you that's all.
  6. How good is good for you? Sound stage? Placement? Extentions of highs and low? What do you acutally term as good? Your vague questions are not helping you at all. Furthermore the thread in head-fi is at least 14 pages long...
  7. I guess at the end of the day, we as consumers plays a part in the service we receive as well. If we want people to be polite to us, we should be polite to them as well. As for auditioning of equipment, I find it really helpful to give the vendor or the shop a call to make an appointment. This helps them to plan their time and devote more time to you. On ocassions, the shop maybe having some "big customer" coming for an audition. As the salesman, you would definately want to close the bigger deal. I am pretty sure, everyone would have the same piority. Ok then...
  8. Well John, maybe it was the way you talked to him, or you may have caught him on a bad day. Mackie and nakedtoes has good impressions of kingsley. As for the ordering of the ear pads I can't really comment. If were I you, I would have paid them 1st and ask them to order it for me. In that way it should be faster. Furthermore, I am pretty sure they do not keep stock of such things since not many people could afford the stax.
  9. Please read the rules for posting in the classified section, no auctions are to be posted in the Classifieds Kindly edit your post as well.
  10. It all depends on you. If you can hear the improvements and feel the improvement is worth the money. YMMV.
  11. Thank you all. I will do my best to help out in this forum.
  12. You could post in the DIY section asking for help then.
  13. Yes, there will be improvements. You can checkout this two website http://stefanaudioart.com/ReplacementCable...Headphones.html http://www.zucable.com/mobiusakg/index.html The Zu cable can be ordered from Music by Design and the Stefan Audio Art have to be ordered online.
  14. Well he asked for a comparison and he got one...
  15. To add on: The mids of the GS1000 is more detailed than that of the DT990. However the mids of the DT990 has a tad more wieght and warmth over the GS1000. Not to be mistake that the GS1000 mids has no warmth, it is only sligthly warm. That maybe the signature of my setup. In terms of PRAT, the DT990 seems to lose out to the GS1000
  16. Try the Chang lightspeed power conditioner.
  17. I have owned the solid steel rack in the past. It does a decent job. If you want something much better but at a price of course, you can try the finite elemente which I am currrently using.
  18. Had the K701 for a couple of weeks, courtesy of Stereo electronic. During that period I tried it with several amps, these include the Corda HA1 MK1 (corda blue), Grace M902 and RA1. I still prefered it with my pre-amp followed by the Grace M902.
