  1. I am totally fine with either the Kent Ridge Guild or bro Razer's place. Hehe! But honestly speaking, the Kent Ridge Guild is nearer to my place. So.... =]
  2. I am eagerly anticipating this joint meet. I have only met a couple of SGHers so far, can't wait to meet the rest. Lets have a fun meet guys! Cheers!
  3. As an owner of both the AD2000 and W5k, I have to say, give the W5k a total skip if you are planning to play pop on it. The huge amount of compression of most pop music will cause the W5k to produce some "ear-wax melting" highs. The AD2000 reproduces pop pretty well, but in my honest opinion, your best bet would be to go for a pair of beyer 990s non-pros. The 990s are actually very versatile cans that can handle a myriad of genres, if you have a home amp get the 250ohm version, it will sound better than the 32ohm variant out of a home headphone amp. But if you only have say a portable amp or planing to drive it out of a DAP, do get the 32ohm variant. ----------------------------------------- The W5k is actually extremely picky of it's front-end electronics. Get your choice of front end equipment wrong and you will regret your choice of cans, get it right and you will be treated to one of the most "timbrely" accurate cans within that price range. The AD2000 is actually much easier to drive and less picky than the W5k, however I must emphasise that it is easy to drive the AD2000 to a "GOOD" level but it is freaking hard to drive it to a "Very Good" level. Trust me I had a hard time pairing different front end equipments to bring it to an outstanding level. Oh well! Time to continue packing up, gonna move back to my place very soon.
  4. I found the DT150 to be almost completely different sounding from the DT100. But that is just my opinion and your mileage may vary.
  5. To TS, since I saw an ES2 in your signature, you might wanna try the Samsung YH-J70 20GB, I tried it out with a couple of my customs and I kinda liked it, it is worth looking at if you are not planning to go out with an amp. Well it doesn't look the best but it sounds pretty decent for it's price as well.
  6. Eugen3 : Hmm... I really wonder, which universal can win a custom and which custom are you referring to ? I own a lot of top of the line universals from various brands and their flagship customs as well. Unless of course you are talking about westone 3 and ES1 than I rest my case. Xiao_Catz : But seriously man! You should decide by yourself which custom you should go for, it's as if you are asking us to choose your girlfriend for you kinda thing. If you have decided on ES1, go for it. If not just go out and listen to the various brands and see if you like their sound signature, from there on, you won't go wrong.
  7. Xiao_cats: To clarify some doubts, the same amount of drivers does not mean the same sound. Westone UM2 and UE SF5 pro are both dual drivers but they sound so completely different. Each company has their own unique sound signature. It all depends on what you like. Well I own both the ES2 and UE10pro and coming soon Sensa ( this week I think ) and I can say that the Sensa definitely does not sound the same as the ES2, they are worlds apart in terms of sound signature. When you reach this level it is not which is better but which sound signature are you looking for. My style have always been, different kit for different genres of music, this has been my style from many years back when I played with speakers. That is why I own a large variety of Headphones, IEMs, speakers and electronics. Go for the ES1 man, than tell us how it sounds... I'm quite curious. Hehehe Both ahdui and I tried the Sensa, by shoving our friend's pair into our ears for awhile (luckilly for us our ear canals are rather big)and I love the crisp highs. It is totally different sounding from the ES2. =] Braxton : The Sensa does not perform better than the UE10 unfortunately. If you bought it because of Ahdui's review.... how should I say this...his taste is more towards the PRaT and highs, he has a unique taste in music. The Sensa loses to the 10s overall. The sensa also loses out to the ES2 in some areas. The Sensa however offers very clean and pristine sound and crispy highs extension, so if you love the etymotic ER4 with added bass (which is quite deep) and smoother mids which ahdui and I love, than the Sensa is a good choice. I must say that the Sensa is not for everyone, like the etymotics. Don't worry the Sensa is a refreshing change from the ES2. BTW, between the Sensa and ES2, I would pick the ES2 for rock, pop, dance, trance, techno, metal, etc.... Sensa for Vocals, Jazz and Acoustic. Cheers.
  8. IMHO. I find the MS-1 to be a tuned up SR-80 and it sounds around the SR-125 level. =]
  9. I can't wait for my Sensa as well, *jumps for joy* the first local pair made. Btw Xiaocatz, I noticed your poll in this forum, personally I feel that you shouldn't let other people influence your decision when it comes to custom IEMS, in the end of the day you are gonna listen to it yourself and live with it for quite some time.
  10. To clear some misconceptions, the UE10pro does not sound like the ER4P at all. I own both the ER4S and ER4B and have tried the P and they do not even sound similar to the UE10pro with custom earmoulds or without. XiaoCatz : You might wanna consider the ES2, I love my pair as well, compared to my um2+um56, the ES2 has much better treble extension, cleaner and tighter bass, so you do not get much of the UM2's mid bass bloom. The overall presentation is also improved over the UM2, soundstage is wider and the separation is more distinct. Regards
