  1. I just ordered a LR-1 Line Router from Mapletree. Dr. Llyod has one for 150$ US that is 4 inputs by 2 outputs. I got him to build me on with 4 inputs and 3 outs. My color choice was black case with black sides.

    website is: http://hollowstate.netfirms.com/

scroll down to see it. His ad copy on it is:

Any combination of 6 or less I/O lines is possible. Design it yourself to suit your needs.

Ideal for switching line sources between headphone amplifier or preamp or adding additional line inputs to preamp.

LR 1 Pro model features 3–2 switching with balanced I/O and XLR connectors.

  2. I own the T1 and T2. The T2 is heads and shoulders above the T1. The wide feature in the T2 is functional i.e. provides beneficial sound.

The Reference has the quality of a home amplifier while the T2 has the quality of a fine portable amplifier.

Reference is very neutral and powerful. It has the deepest bass that I have heard from a portable, much like my AT-HAh5000. The AT-HA5000 is smoother, more analog sounding compared with the Reference.

Note the Reference is just barely been hear two days so I expect the sound to only get better. It may become more analog before it finishes. It really is to early to make final comparisons.

  3. Don't know the answer to why he sent it to me except that I had ask him if he could to get me one early enough to burn-in for the upcoming DC area met.

I like black in my stuff; i.e., black iMod, black case, and black Xin Reference. Black does not show dirt and finger prints as bad I think.

  4. I just got my Xin Reference in the mail yesterday and boy am I pleased....

I can't say enough about how it sounds out of the box....

It is very small and tucks just behind my iMod 5g with the Super Cotton Dock.

    Things to note...

iMod is in the Treadz case from iFrogz

The Ultrasone Edition 9 quarter inch connection is direct into the portable Xin Reference, no adapters needed.

This unit has both eight and quarter connections.

It can power both at the same time.

The thickness of the amp and iMod together is about 1.5 inches.

The sound is bloody scary good, almost unbelievable out of the box.

Output from this amp using 4 AAA batteries is 250 mA at 6 volts.

The capacitor is a 22000 uF for those interested. (edited)

Battery life is estimated to be at least 200 hours.

The bass is deep and powerful right now...into my UE9s.

Clarity is excellent in the mid-range and highs into my UE9s.

Best of all this unit cost which is very reasonable.

Here it sets beside a iBasso T2 for a size comparison with a quarter in the background:

  5. The various configurations handle music very differently even thought they all have the S-Logic design. Some are monitor phones while others are more home phones. The highest is the Edition 9. It is simply very good....best of both worlds and more. It is the only headphone that I have listened to that I can throw any type of music into and it sound right to me, even music that I previously did not care for.

I have the iCans, Proline 2500 and the UE9.

  6. No problem dude ...

I read in your signature that you are using an amp with the ATH-ANC7... Just wonder if this makes a different?

The headphone is good enough to reveal differences going from these amps in this order:

    iBasso T1

    Headamp AE-1

    Lavry DA10 headamp

    ATH-HA5000

At each level the sound gets a bit better than before.

  7. I disagree that NC headphones are not meant for audiophile. In the aircraft enviornment a NC headphones give a wider dynamic headroom than any other headphones.

I travel often and I have owned at least 5 NC models.

To me, the best NC headphones is the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 if you are serious about sound. The newer and more expensive model Quiet Comfort 3 cannot make it, in my opinion, because of lack of treble. If you need something smaller, the Sennheiser PXC300 give good hi-Fi sound with limited bass. The cheaper PXC250 cannot make it either.

    Sony...forget it.

I am toying with a Sony MDR-SA1000 at home now.....

What is your opinion of the ATH-ANC7s since you have had five ANC headphones. Was it one of them?

  8. just to add to aaron's recommendations...you definitely want to get a pair of iems. They might get a little uncomfortable but you'll get used to it. On the plane nothing beats them

you can head down to either stereo electronics or jaben. both shops have a very good range of iems well within your budget...basically sound quality wise people don't really go for noise-cancelling headphones, because they say it distorts the sound. I myself have never tried one of these, no money.

I have had the ANC7 for about two weeks now. It is very good for the price. I got mine for a little less than 150$ US including shipping. Love the dynamic range that I can get at work where my background if right at 64 dB.

  9. I got a ANC7 last week... They sound very well compared to its direct competition. It has the AT house sound while balanced to the lower frequencies more than other ATHs. I guess this has to do with being a NC headphone. The Bose is even more balanced lower and has a harder time with the upper mids and higher. To me the ANC7 is simply much more clear while the Bose sounds more like a much cheaper headphone.

  10. One observation from a recent meet is that the W5000 can have different head bands. Mine is smaller and fits better while the other one was larger.

I'am dead sure its not Limited. Only the A1000s and A900LTD and W2002 and L3000 as well as some other woodies and models are limited and AT always state Limited on thier cans that they want to release as a limited edition one.

  11. Their are differences, different driver, four wire cable with dual ear entrance keeping the ground separate are the main differences. The four wire cable has only been on their highest rated phones before such as the W2002 and L3000.

There are a few reviews around....

my comments start on page 7 of this thread down a bit on the page..
