Hi Dio, did you see the posts like this? http://www.sgheadphones.net/index.php?show...9&mode=threaded If so, please switch the display option by clicking the "Options" on the top right hand corner, then select "Standard".
  2. I traded my GS1000 because it became too bright and I could not listen to it any longer... that time I used Corda HA-2. Later on I borrowed another pair of GS1000 to try with the GCHA amp it was ok but bass too boomy and a little dark. Ok, so yesterday another chance to hear the GS1000 (thanks to Prince Leia) with the zana deux tube amp, I was pleasantly surprised that it's neither boomy nor bright, the bass response was fast & transient, and midrange was not recessed, got more juice. It was very nice and I quite like it a bit. Compare the result with GCHA, it's ear bleeding bright this time... Yes, system synergy definitely play a part. But I won't be getting another pair of GS1000 simply because I prefer PS-1 even better, LOL.
  3. Acclaimed PS Audio GCHA headphone amp Cutting edge gain-cell digital amplification - drives ANY headphones (except K1000), personally I find great synergy with Grado RS-1, AKG K501, Sennheiser HD650/HD600, ATH-W5000, and Ultrasone Edition 9 (if using right cables). It's very musical and smooth sounding. Analog and USB inputs (USB DAC) 1 year old, I am the first owner, and still have 1 year warranty by Kingsley. Excellent condition, rate 9/10 using Audiogon grading scale. Asking $1000. Original box, manual and AC cord still available. Audition is welcome, we can arrange. 4. Hi, Due to my other commitments, it's going to take very long before it can reach at least 300 hours, :-( Just 2 hours burn-in it sounds more or less the same as my already burn-in GCHA which I like a lot. Right now it's reaching 50 hours of burn-in time, the first impression was the wider and deeper soundstage. All the details seems to be much more coherent and came through easily (more holographic presentation like I can "see" the instruments played behind my head). RS-1 with ZD has even more soundstage depth and air, W5000 + ZD also is the most natural sounding combo I'd heard, PS-1 + ZD, everything seems well-controlled with authority and liquidness. Haven't tried other headphones yet. I am using NOS Brimar 6SL7GT CV1985 (brown based) and Mullard ECC35. Summary for the early 50 hours burn-in time: musical, fast and dynamic, warm, detailed, not laidback presentation, no fatigue for prolong listening (I have to force myself to stop listening), very nice looking in person but the two 6c33c-B very hot (can feel the heat even two steps away, so air-con on at all time if only Singapore has Winter), it's dead quiet and no hum yet (fingers crossed). A tube amplification shoot out sound interesting,

  8. I have the X-1, it sounds very close to the ks1030 but without the killer micro-details. I am now in love with any acrolink interconnects, I find them to have better price/performance ratio. PM me if you want to try the X-1 for A/B.. :-)
  9. LOL, didn't think of the virus but we were worry that it got spotted by someone in my lab.. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « the autopsy room (for animal works) just next door only Yeah heady, I used to work on fish viral disease few years ago
  10. I will stick with Squeezebox, if I want to stream music. iPod screen is too small, if only on the wadia there's a screen showing what songs are playing, and a remote to navigate from there! Hehe, I am daydreaming..
  11. Our laboratory is located on the hill and many times I could see squirrels here and there. But today this is the first time we spotted a monkey. Must buy 4D. [attachmentid=3952] cute eyes and lips [attachmentid=3953] resting...
  12. Hi all, Just FYI, we have heady joined as new moderator today
  13. gfgfmoses was the camera man, and I'd resized the photos so they looked a bit blurred. Description corrected. X2. This shows how important the power supply in an audio chain, even in humble headphone setup. This is the weakest link in my setup. Oh yes, and source .. Rameish, gene83 (aka yuujin) got the sticker but none of us remember to request everyone in the meet to write their nicks on it.
  14. Actually the label of L & R were wrong in the first place. I was told by the dealer that bel canto was rushing the manufacturer to ship out the first few batches as it was due. So the connection was actually correct you organize the next one?

  21. Hmm, these were what I wrote in a correspondence, was trying to summarize the characters of the amps and some observations...for your reading pleasure : I have owned yammy, RPX-33 and GCHA for more than 2, 6 and 10 months respectively, as I bought them new and had experienced the burn-in effect on each amp. To my ears, the signature of yammy and GCHA changes rapidly after two months of continuous use. They will sound better and better after continuous use, and change of wires does improve a lot on them, especially the GCHA, which is a transparent amp, cables matching (power cords and interconnects) is important, I could tweak the GCHA to sound even slower than the yammy like analog to suit female vocals, or tweak to sound very dynamic and fast to play complex music like rock, pop, blues, classicals. To me, GCHA is a keeper for me to audition any new cables I acquired, and it's very smooth and liquid as a solid state amp. I like to use RS-1 and MS-Pro with GCHA, as it presents a creamy, warm and melting listening experience for me. With recent acquisition of oritek X-1, UE9s with GCHA I heard slightly more micro details in the recordings. The yammy is sensitive to the interconnects use, and in fact my virtual dynamics david 2.0 RCA has the best synergy with yammy over my kimber select. However, the david 2.0 is nearly the price of yammy... If you listen to a lot of jazz and vocals, I would strongly recommend yammy to you. Yammy is particularly friendly to jazz and vocals, it's spectacular. It demonstrates great rhythm and pace and tone in the mid range. I have been enjoying it with almost all my headphones, including the high impedance cans like HD600, DT990. The previous assumption that it's suitable for low impedance headphones is no longer true. However, as I said yammy needs a lot of burn-in time, with HD600, the sound changed from very sweet (before 40 hours), to slightly veiled and warm (100-400 hours), and now it's transparent and more open, like opening the windows for the first time after a long winter (over 500 hours, i.e. lately). With UE9s, before 130 hours usage of yammy, the bass compartment sounded like it was blocked and not open, after 130 - 400 hours, UE9s sounded good but with a slight emphasis of midbass hump. And now more than 500 hours, the UE9s sounds very natural and transparent (but not as transparent as RPX-33, so it depends on your musical tastes and preference), very musical and romantic. Of RPX-33, it's the most transparent and detailed amp out of the three. And I won't call it a neutral amp because it has a rich full tones in its own. The sound also doesn't changed much from swapping of power cords, I reckon it's due to a better power supply in RPX-33. With HD600, I heard the best HD600 like I never heard it before. However, to my ears and tastes, GCHA has more "euphonicity" over RPX-33, more tube-like sound than the colder RPX-33.
  22. Give me a couple of days when I got more time. Maybe osocan or warsurfer can give a detailed yet unbiased comparisons... The meet only happened for less than 3 hours, I don't know at the end which amp the guys like most, but my sixth sense told me that they liked the yammy? However, I am listening to RS1 + GCHA now, it's very spacious (wonderfully ambient), good depth and imaging, the details of string twang and air around them sound realism to me. But the "soundstage" still sound like coming from headphones. Because I'd heard the singlepower MPX3 SLAM long ago, the W -I - D - E soundstage (it sounded like out-of-the-head, coming outside of headphones) always stays in my mind that I know this is one "goal" I want to achieve in the headphone systems (maybe it's my source, LOL). Hopefully the upcoming zana deux can rectify this.
  23. No no no, was just trying to direct you to the reason and asking if there's other option
