  1. Modifications

I did very little, basically replacing the speaker cables, interconnects and internal wiring of the sats. It improved resolution noticeably.

    Hi Fishball,

Does the internal wiring of the sub require soldering? biggrin.gif

  2. i dun like the warm sound so i change the opamp and bring it to mychew, may be this is the reason.

AC adapter is 12V 500mA, enough power?? not sure.

Btw, i will try it out will a stand alone regulated power supply and see how.....

and the power cap, i use electrolytic caps in parallel with ploy cap.

    to try out new things.

still waiting for opinion from you all.

Huh...so somewhere you did switch the op-amp back to 4556? But you glued the box! I'm totally confused. Also you mentioned a generic poly and elect caps - these are not in a Grado RA-1.

Anyway, if you and the owner were happy about it that would be one thing but it seems you both are/were not.

Why all the cloak & dagger? We're used to messy wires.

I might like the warmer sound w00t.gif

  3. So sorry I replied late.

Did you feel u hear more after the first few days immediately after cleaning your ears?

    ok i need to know

    1) your room layout with the furniture ... draw it out if possible

    2) musical tastes

You really sounds like a Doctor giving a patient advice. LOL

  4. This amp is very source dependant, i connected it to NAD C541 and the sound changes a lot as compare to pcdp.

Julery, if you use it with your computer, try to use some equalizer to tame it.Normal soundcard might sound bright.

Yes, I could feel abit different between your Nad C541 & my com source ( Philips Acoustic Edge Soundcard ). Maybe abit bright, or maybe just my music which are bright in nature. blush.gif

  5. Okie guys, at last this DIY Grado amp is completed and in my hands now after much scouting and pestering someone to make me a headamp. Oh yeah, Huangyong is da man. party.gif

Sound good with Philips 890, oh yeah I listen to mostly smooth Jazz & vocals, and is loving it . I can't describe as an audiophile do, but what I can say is well balance with mixed music & vocal and maybe a bit brighter while listening to jazz instrumentals. headphone.gif
