  1. Hi

have you gone to hmv recently?

well since last month or so they've changed the headphones at the nakamichi testing station to DBI pro 705 phones

anybody knows about this headphones? it sounds pretty good for me, i'm quite impressed with the sound actually.

    here's the url:

i've searched head-fi and they've discussed about it but they don't know where to get

so anybody here knows about it i.e. where to get and how much

for those who've tried them, what do you think? how does it compare to the other audiophile quality phones that you've listened to?

  2. hi monsieuroctagon,

you can buy the pcb from tropicalrips for S$11 each.

i just bought one from him myself last week, and currently doing the project

you can contact him through PM

btw, guys can you tell me what is the value for the potentiometer?

is it 10k or 50 k? how does it make a difference?

  3. cool i like my akg k26p too, it sure has punchy bass and lacks mid and high but that really makes all the treble sounds smooth to me. it's like there's no sharp edged sound that hurts your ear.

now everytime i listen to my pcdp, instead of boosting the bass, i'll boost the treble. with that the phones sounds better to me but even though i enhance the treble, the phones still sound smooth.

the fact that the phones are supra-aural need some time to adjust to but overall i feel it is quite comfortable. compared to my old koss ur30 full sized phones, i can listen to music longer without feeling too hot on my ears.

boy i really like the phones

  4. you mean all those cds from china? (those labeled in chinese)

mm yeah been wondering about that as well actually

those chinese labeled cds are really cheaper, can reach 50% cheaper than english labeled cds

but now a bit hesitant to buy them, do they have the same quality?

anybody has experience with those cds?

how about those japanese cds? they are more expensive but i heard they got better quality

but not sure if it's better in terms of mixing quality or the cd production (pressing) quality

    anybody knows about this?

  5. mm haha quite difficult eh. it's not like i know them personally. you can check their ratings first. if they have like 100+ perfect good ratings i think they've a lot of experience already and can be trusted.

anyway in my 3 years experience trading in yahoo it has been a pleasant one. i think as long as you are careful and have good intention in closing the deal it should be okay.

so i suggest you just search for whatever you want, check the seller's ratings, understand all the terms, and then bid with confidence. if you won, try to get in contact with him early on and then discuss with him how to do the transactions. usually if buyer and seller keep communicating there shouldn't be any problem. most of the sellers are locals anyway so easier to deal.

    have fun auctioning

  6. last time there was www.grabadisc.com.sg but they went down somewhile ago

there's this www.bangcd.com i think it's based in sg as well, take a peek at their website and found out their return address in alexandra haha

    http://www.bangcd.com/faq.aspx

but anyway their prices are based on poundsterling i guess, quite ex compared to local prices

on the website they have an option for you to choose the price in sgd but it's just a conversion i think

you might want to try singapore's yahoo auctions. there are some 2nd hand cd sellers there but from my experience you need to verify with them the cd quality, some have scratches here and there. haha i'm a bit particular about this.

  7. Hi all, a newbie here.

went to hung bros. and auditioned hd201 and akg k26p today

hd 201 sounds alright to me, it feels good listening to them (mid and treble sounds nice) but a bit lacking in bass. one thing for sure they are really comfortable.

k26p on the other hand got amazing bass response but it's not muddy i feel, you can really hear the drums very well but a bit weak on the high end i think. it seems that k26p has a better sensitivity (spl) compared to hd201, listening to the same song and same volume, k26p sounds louder

another difference hd201 is circum aural, while k26p is supra aural.

in the end i bought k26p for $69, lucky for me hung bros. is having a sale (original price was $99)
