  1. btw ever thought of modifying your adcom gfa 565?? you could ask mr ts lim to look into this and modify/improve the headphone out.... that pre-amp costed probably 1.5k in 1988? or 1990

if you've stripped the amp like i had done b4.. the parts inside are.. quite superior..

except if your headphone's too high sensitivity there's a slight hiss sound.. but you've got the treble/bass/mid knobs, you could try switching on the filters and all..

  2. hi rameish thanks for the suggestion. i am thinking of buying the ra-1 clone in the classified section, you don't suggest a tube amplifier?

Tube amplification is a bit of a hit and miss with grado RS-1. A nice tube amp would be the Micro Zotl. If you are sensitive to background hiss (tube amps tend to be a bit noisy) then stay away as the high sensitivity of the Grado headphones lets you hear it.

yup.. i find tubes better off with laid back phones like senn 650s etc..

if you've seen the freq response vs amplitude chart of rs 1 vs 650s, there is a large increase in amplitude at the higher frequencies for the rs-1s, thus you would probably match this with a more laid back source of amplification, probably like 627s or 637s for a more even sound

if you are going tubes.. audition first.. it depends on how they bias the tube amp sometimes.. the output may not match your headphone.. and it wont sound good no.gif

  3. I believe those cyrus are for driving speakers? I am attracted by the looks of OBH-11. Simple and nice but according to reviews, dun sound too good.

Does NAD makes amps for headphones? I like the dull, drape look. yeah.gif

most of their pre-amps have headphone outs laugh.gif

  4. In my opinion, it will be wonderful if Stereo Electronics is able to bring in some Chinese headamps. Aside from a huge variety of designs (solid-state and tube based) and aesthetics, sound quality is usually very high (from personal encounter with Hefei XiangSheng, Cayin/Spark, Minda, Original). Dollar for dollar, the Chinese headamps give very big bang for the buck against its competitors in Japan, Europe and US. This aspect is all the more true with portable headamp. If Stereo Electronics can find a way to bring in these gems and yet make money out of it, I'm sure cans fans in US and Europe will drool over what our playground has to offer.

yes.gif yup.. china & taiwan audio industry picking up.. and many times amps are built in similar and further modified designs of western amps..

quite well worth the price...i just missed out on the sale of the original master amp in the classifieds.. for that price of 210.. i think its quite worth it from the opinions i've seen in this forums

  5. Dun worry idkfa, I understand.... cool.gif if this amp really sucks then everyone should know about it rather then having customers complaining after their purchase, bad for my reputation. But still I would be ordering some to sell and a demo unit for the rest to audition. Keep you guys informed when its in stock.

maybe mr stereo electronics should also learn to diy amps.. then can come out.. stereo electronics brand laugh.gif

(if you do up something really value for money.. people will be interested and your boss will yes.gif ) or maybe even take custom orders like mr digi01 in this forums and some other experts around..

when will be the estimated arrival of this amp? your shop carries grados RA-1 too right? tongue.gif so.. are they gonna be side by side for people to test? laugh.gif

any difficult cans arnd for auditioning too? or can i bring down my PPA or other misc amps or my beyers/shures for testing? lol.gifheadphone.gif
