  1. I disagree that NC headphones are not meant for audiophile. In the aircraft enviornment a NC headphones give a wider dynamic headroom than any other headphones.

I travel often and I have owned at least 5 NC models.

To me, the best NC headphones is the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 if you are serious about sound. The newer and more expensive model Quiet Comfort 3 cannot make it, in my opinion, because of lack of treble. If you need something smaller, the Sennheiser PXC300 give good hi-Fi sound with limited bass. The cheaper PXC250 cannot make it either.

    Sony...forget it.

I am toying with a Sony MDR-SA1000 at home now.....

  2. Depend on the SACD itself.

    (1) If the SACD is non Hydrid SACD, then the audio from the disc can be 5 channel or stero at the high bit rate. This is NOT PCMed.

    (2) If the SACD is a Hydrid and you select the CD section , then you get PCM. If you select SACD, then you will get SACD sound as mention in item (1).

  3. One pair Sony CD3000 for sale.

Current owner only use the headphones for about 3-5 occassions.

Bought in Osaka, set was the last piece...demo set.

Slight unnoticeable scratch and the cloth head band is not tact but overall condition is good.

Come with huge box....the package is just headphone and box.

Selling because the whole thing takes up a lot of my limited space and frankly, I nearly use this set at all. I am using Bose Quiet Comfort 2 most of the time....(noticed that the only time I use headphone is when I am flying...I prefer to listen with my loudspeaker at home...)

  5. about the banner, its actually a tile thats repeating btw wink.gif

Yes, it is just 59 vertical pixels repeating horzontally......but what about the text and that waveform graphics?

The SG Headphones and the right side of the banner are your own creations......how?

I am thinking of inserting a block measuring 59 X 13xx pixels in size to cover everything.....

    (Audio)

  6. And...this Invision Forum software...you use it on the free mode?

I noticed that you did some good changes to the banner...are you using any skin?

    (Audio)

yeah. invisionboard. free mode? it IS free what happy.gif

oh yeah, just did a few changes here and there, like the colour scheme. are you thinking of setting up your own forum or something? wink.gif

    Thinking....yes....

But having second third thoughts as so many forums in Singapore already. I don't think I can get support but anyway, I don't care after all, I am doing it for fun....

Yes, Invision is free but you can pay money to get more freedom for changing everything. I have setup a webserver and managed to get the connection "blessed" ..it's all ready to go but I have not made any announcement yet. I don't believe in starting with a empty place. I intend to get it pack it up with some articles before I promote it. It is undergoing stability trial right now...been running up 24/7 since the 9 June.

I am trying to get the Invision to looks different but is now having a hard time changing the banner.....how did you do yours? I replace the Invision banner but it is short...how you managed to geberate a banner that long...and of exact length?

  7. Ablaze,

How about some info on this forum....

Who is hosting this and what is this www.cryophillia.com......are you moving from one web host to another?

Speed on your site are pretty good.....the waterblock one is slower somewhat....

  8. I work in the Aerospace industry.

We provide inflight entertainment system for the commerical aircraft.

If you fly SIA, that's our system onboard.

I am the Account Manager ... not the Excel, count money kind of guy....no, the one who looks after all the needs of my airline customer.

  9. I guess what I meant was, a good wireless headphones.

My experiences with wireless phones is that they are great for watching movies quietly without all the wires. Wires are troublesome while moving around the room sometimes or while playing computers. Oh, I use my computer for watching movies :-)

I:ve looked at the Senns. There is a wireless equivalent to the Senns. 580, but I don:t want Senns, so I:m going for Jap.

    I am for Jap too.....

but wait....I got Jap but Jap mostly do infra red. And Sennheiser does RF....

wait....I tried the Sennheiser....ohhh...it's so good!! But it's just plain vanilla sound but it's better than SONY.

I am happily using the Sennheiser HDR 45 now.....using it for the TV when my wife complain about midnight TV....

    (Audio)

    Wireless like CD3000....hee heee,,,NO WAY!!!

  10. But then, I did had many good experiences with the Sony technicians....

I remember (before they lay off staff a couple of years ago)...that they will always call you on your mobile phones to ask for more info on the defect. Many a times, they will do their best to pinpoint the defect and if they found nothing, they will do it for free; no service charge...(beneifit of the doubt thing).

And when you get your stuff back, I always see this label at the back, "Serviced by so & so" followed by a contact number.

    Sigh...

    (Audio)

  11. Sony needs to hire me to be one of their technicians....

I will individually plot frequency response sweep for both transducers, a harmonics distortion sweep with test tone at 1KHz and present these graphs to Ablaze when they come over to collected his cans .....for a headphone of this calibre, one would expect nothing less than this....

    Happy?

    (Audio)

  12. Don't let the size of the CD3000 fool you.....

I too was thinking it is far too huge....but the first time I slipped it on...so light!!!

Next thing is, ...it is so comfortable...maybe the leather...

    Ablaze...

Sorry, I cannot say "Yes"....because the sound is not as "forward" as I like it to be....

    Will write something soon....

I have tried Den Den Town in Osaka....it's OUT OF STOCK everywhere. Den Den Town is a like a Sim Lim Square but it's not in one building...it's a 1km street with shops on both sides! In the middle, there is this SONY DEALER (like our V3 in SLS) where they got most of the SONY headphones on demo, you will find the CD2000 there. I asked about the CD3000 and told them I want it....but the Saleman did some checks, made some phone calls and returned to tell me NO stock.

Desperate, I took the Subway to Umeda....this is the hub of most of Osaka train and subway(Keihan, JP, Osaka station)..and there is this GIANT underground mall. Above it, there is this Yodobashi Camera which is a tall building with almost 7 floors of electronics stuff.

Go to 3rd level...and you'll see a section DEDICATED to HEADPHONES...you name it they got it..(except for the CD3000; one crazy oriental gentleman who begged like hell to buy it)..Senhennsier, AT W1000...EVERYTHING plus plenty of headphone amps!!!

The CD3000 was priced at 37,500 yens...with tax, it was $39,XXX...my Visa bill told me I paid under $600 for it.

    (Audio)

  13. Akyoh.....

You think get CD3000 so easy ah, in Singapore....

beg beg beg people to sell....all no hue you!!

Took me 2 whole months...and a trip to Osaka...beg beg beg again (NO STOCK..ALL SOLD OUT!!!)

So desperate...only managed to beg the guy at Yodashida at Umeda to sell me his DISPLAY MODEL!!!

Some more, took me 2 days, 3 hours total of waiting to make my purchase due to the "Singapore-Visa-card,-no-information-from-local-bank" issue!!!

Now owning the display set CD3000......

no time to test and write review as promised to Ablaze.....

    (Audio).

  14. ok i just posted this in the other thread,

DC leakage test, from my rudimentary understanding  happy.gif

the multimeter has to be connected in SERIES to measure the current.

    so,

lets say if i wanna test the right channel, i place one lead of the multimeter touching the right channel of the amp's output, the other lead touching the right channel of the headphone's plug, then you'll need another wire connecting the ground of the amp output to the ground on the headphone (to complete the circuit). repeat for other channel.

the "leaky" channel will read out a much higher current. correct me if I'm wrong, Northern Oak smile.gif

whats this current I'm measuring? a lil lost ph34r.gif

No, you don't use the ampmeter part of your multimeter, you measure the voltage, not the current.

It is unwise to place a current meter across your output as you will be shorting it!!!

To measure DC voltage...set the voltage selectror to DC volt, place your probe across the output.

You may like to unscrew the headphone jacks to get at the connections.

  15. I'm a little confused with the SACD remasters. How do tell whether they are SACD as last time I saw the rolling stones remasters there doesn't seem to be any major indicators. Dohhh...

    Hee hee,

You can tell that this is a SACD because:-

    (1) It cost more.....

    (2) It normally comes with a plastic binder over the jewel case,

    (3) There seems to be a standard SACD casing which is different from the conventional CD.

    (4) The SACD symbol is quite prominient at most times...

    (5) Retailers tends to group their SACD and DVD-Audio on different shelves.

    (Audio)
