  1. Where's a good place to go and buy music downloads? I checked Soundbuzz and Nokia Music Store and they are selling at S$1.99/track. iTunes is cheaper at US$0.99/track but they don't sell for Singapore downloads. Neither does Napster. Crap. Is there somewhere I can get for less than S$1.99/track? Also, does anyone know what is the quality of the downloads from Soundbuzz and Nokia? Thanks.
  2. I've been searching on the Internet and understand that the DT990 earpads can be taken out by the user for replacement or for cleaning, but can't seem to find instructions on how to do so. Can someone tell me how to do so? Also, what's the best way to clean/wash those velour earpads? Thanks.
  3. Top Gun, You are saying that the new DT990 can be bought for less than US$180 (<S$300) here in Singapore? Really??? I find that quite unbelieveable.
  4. Thanks guys. Helpful info. Hi Aron, err .... I think AD2000 will bust my budget. Thinking of the AD700 or AD900. Do you have them or do you carry the A700 and A900 versions instead? And around how much please, if you don't mind my asking. Will pop down one day to hear them. If anyone else has experience with these, would appreciate hearing about them.
  5. Is this thread trying to get me to be more and more sorry for my wallet? Is the AD2000 is going waaayy above the HD650 price? I am hoping to keep to a budget of around $300+. So unless I find the HD650 or others in that price range and above so much better than the others of around $300+, I will try not to kill my wallet. I am using the headphone amp in the Benchmark DAC1. The chaps at Benchmark do their listening with HD600 (and some with HD650). Can someone try to tell me what the AT "house" sound is? If Beyers are supposed to be lively and Senns to be warm with bass, what about AT?
  6. Hi, Are their open cans available in Singapore? I hear of the A series but not the AD series. Prefer open cans as will be used at home. Does open cans mean less bass but better mid-range? Wondering whether the A700/900 or the AD700/900 might be suitable for me. I have heard the Beyer DT880 and 990pro and the Senn HD650. Sonically, what is the difference in flavour between the ATs and these cans? Am searching for my first set of cans, so still trying to find out the type of sound that I like. Need an all rounder because listen mainly to jazz, acoustics and some rock and classical; and will also use for movies. Thanks.
  7. Thanks Mackie. I have not heard the DT880, so will be waiting to hear the new ones when they come in. Now with the DT990 being the top of the line, wonder how different it will be from the present DT990. Yes, the fellas at Benchmark have been testing with the HD600/650 and do recommend that, but I need to find a place that carries both Beyer and Senn. Any suggestions?
  8. Just need info on which shop has these 2 headphones. Anyone? Just need a digital coax out and a power outlet -- and of course a place that will let me plug my Benchmark in. That will limit the effect of their source to just transport work only. Need to find a place with both those headphones tho, that's the problem. As for AVOne, I presume they allow their existing customers to test only. Fella there said they can order for me if I want, but even if they had it in the shop, they don't allow listening unless I confirm want it. I can never understand such a statement. If I am sure I want it, why the heck do I still need to try it out? Duhh!! Obviously not interested in my business.
  9. Hi, Been lurking around for a while to learn a bit before asking any questions. Need advice on what cans to get. Usage would music over a rather wide spectrum -- mainly jazz and vocals, but would include blues, pop and some classical too. Would also be used for some DVD movies. Personal preference is for accuracy, and it should get me tapping my feet. There must be good bass definition too -- I generally do not listen at high volumes, so need to take into account the Fletcher-Munson effect. The cans will be connected to the Benchmark DAC1. From my research, I am considering the DT990pro and HD595. Have tried the DT990pro briefly. I like what I hear (eg the bass is better defined than the DT860). But because I have no prior experience with cans, I don't know whether in the $200-400 price point there is something out there that might be more suitable for me. Would appreciate views on both these cans, especially if you have had the chance to compare them. Other suggestions would be welcome too. Also, where can I go to try them side-by-side? Hung Bros? Will they let me hook up my Benchmark? Thanks.
