  1. Hello and welcome to SGHP =)

Firstly, I'll have to emphasize that one should take any review written for IEMs to be taken with a grain of salt. The best way for you to find out which ones you'd like would be to test them at either Stereo Electronics if you're living closer up north, or Jaben Networks over at the Adelphi building if you're living closer to central or south areas. You'd be able to test from a selection of different tips and such as well as different IEM and semi-canal models.

Secondly, know when to stop, you won't want to overspend :)

    Enjoy your stay here :D

  2. CK9 is great... very warm sounding... btw, i have preorder... can't wait to get it...

oops... saw my name... well, after trying out ck7, my im716 mid sounds lay back... i love the warm sound of ck9... i find it warmer than um2, sf5pro. it not as detail as im176 but more than um2 and sf5pro.

you getting it? i'm dieing for it... :)) fit was easy on my ear and it so comfy... but the cable is bad...

    Unlikely. If I hadn't an E4, I'd probably be getting it =)

As I previouslymentioned, to me, its a watered down E4 with less details throughout the spectrum, BUT its still an extremely smooth earphone and is apparently very forgiving as well. AT did a good job with the CK9 IMO :)

  3. My resistor is just a Shure PA235 volume control unit.

At 0 volume cut, its at 0 Hms resistance, and at max, its a 556 Ohm resistor. I measured the L/R channels using a multimeter and brought the value to ~203 Ohms. Aron helped me shield the volume slider using a heatshrink tube :)

  4. IME, increasing the in-line impedance (not driver impedance, I don't think anyone can do that easily) for armature driver IEMs reduce the overall amount of general bass and brings the treble regions into a more forward presentation, but it cuts the treble in dynamic driver based eargear and may or may not murkify the bass regions in general.

For the armature driver based IEMs tried on my 200 Ohm resistor, I've tried the Aurvana, E4, UM1, ER6i and CK9. The Aurvana benefits very heavily from this, it'll sound like a different beast altogether IMO.

  5. Its got a slightly different sound sig to the CK7 IMO.

CK7's clinical throughout, the CK9 is slightly warmer, with a smooth high bass to mid-mids transient. The highs seem not as forward though.

All in all, the CK9 feels like a slightly watered down E4 with greater mid-bass presence.

  6. This is one AT I'm looking forward to. The black one looks nice :)

Its overall more aesthetically pleasing as compared to the E4 as well. If the SQ surpasses the CK7 in my books, this'll be good to give a shot or even get. Hopefully it'll come into SG soon :)
