  1. What kind of isolation you putting under your TT?

As long as you are happy...

I may be wrong but it sure looks like..... bluetac?

alamak, i'm out dated...so many ppl are already into vinyl and electrostatic; while i am still using my old but royalty setup

Er, its not you, its the "old guys" here going back to the old toys. I still young :P

  2. eh,one of the best?he told me it is mid level TT leh..he bought the whole set for 4k :call:

and and he play audio for almost 30 yrs le..

Not in terms of price. For the its ability, you'd have to spend alot more to get the same results IMHO.

The LP12 has a very huge following, many 3rd party upgrades are available.

actually set up a TT system is easy like one two three

what you need is a TT (with arm & cartridge), a phono amp & interconnect to your amp.

if your amp (Hi-fi amp I mean) already come with phono stage, u already saveup.

beside kachui easy plug & play TT, for starter like us, Project Debut III or Rega P1 - both around 600 including cartridge & phono. P1 could be lower. Project Debut III colour version will be higher price.

or can get used Technics SL1200MK2 or above, low model Thorens within your budget.

no experience wise, my advise is buy new low budget model to play around. get familiar with those stuff then upgrade to further model.

if you have cash, may consider to get something around 2-2.5K for start. this will keep you busy for a while.

Well, for me I'll be getting a used one to play around with until I upgrade it... erm, actually, more like mutilate!

  3. so good to have an audiophile uncle..

think I'll just call up all my uncles to see if they hv a nice tt lying ard somewhere too. No harm askin, especially if they happen to hv a Linn LP12! One of the best TT around, if properly setup & maintained. Lots tweaking possibilities but needs some experience.

  4. errrr...finally succumbed to all the talk about vinyl in this thread...so decided to give it a spin (no pun intended). Bought an entry level, easy to use Denon DP-300F...high-end audiophiles will probably snigger at this product but due to space and budget constraints decided to get this...it comes with an in-built phono stage and thus can be directly plugged into any headphone amps. It comes with attached line out rca and power cables. Very easy to set up too.

And the sound...wow...it really kick ass; this budget turntable is surprisingly good. Bought my favourite Queen album (news of the world) from Roxy and compared to the CD of this album, the vinyl wins hands down; so much fuller and warmer...and the bass is unbelievable.

you are the best, no need to poison! Haha.. Jump in yourself!

I'm also waist deep in this damn vinyl crap, but only halfway.

If you happen to see "blondie" knock his head a few times for making us spend more money.

  5. Nice CDP bro. Congratulations! :rclxms: It looks like fantastic value for money.

You bought it off the web straight from the manufacturer? What made you get it if you didn't audition it before?

Guess he couldn't wait to audition it, just had to get a CDP within his budget just to be rid of that "sticky" Myryad.. yucks

  6. sell sell sell! i wana try. any chance you going down anywhere?

Oops, didnt see your request earlier. Well, if you're interested to audition the Magnum MS2i, perhaps when the guys and me meet up at Stereo I'll bring it with me. My stax rig is kindof in a mess right now, perhaps when I get it sorted you can come by to listen... if you are still keen that is.

  7. Well, its burning in nicely in my can burn-in setup. Out of the box, compared to the HF2 (the only other Grado I have) its way more neutral. The HF2 sounds recessed compared to this. Vocals are more lively and airy. Haven't compared with my other cans, but I consider the others a different group :ppth:

Must borrow one of 2 PS1s I know of to compare, but of course that wouldn't be fair to the Magnum. Nonetheless, I'm curious to find out. Wonder how the PS1000 fairs?

    IPB Image

Xiao mei mei may be even more costly than all our rigs combined! :P

    Then again..

Its a different kind of heaven... :P

  8. :) dormant TT user now :)

TT is enjoyable when u have time and patience.

CD is convenient and easy maintenance.

    Digital is very convenient.

    Totally agree

Well, until I have more free time...... then again, free time better go pub or KTV chat with xiao mei mei :lust:

Waah!!! This thread is Evil :bash: ... Anyway, just got back I have yet to try those fabled TT + Stax combo.

BEWARE my friend the slope is a slippery one.....

  9. Going LP route must also consider RCM (record cleaning machine) eh...... :)

Clearaudio, VPI got some pretty ok, utility grade RCM.

Our local make also got a cheaper version using spinning to dry, but vacuum function still a good feature, i think.

Loricraft, Keith monks, Hannl are bling, bling liao eh. :)

May also consider using paper sleeve and newspaper cut out to LP size. (It does absorb moisture). Got budget, go for anti-static sleeve.

Otherwise, maintain room temperature in LP storage.

Our local weather is humid, not really that conducive for LP well being in ambient temperature, especially for those staying near east coast, i guess. For indoor smokers, condition will be lagi worse...

But for nostalgia (older recordings), and analog heaven, LP has bragging rights, i presume :)

Lots of arm exercises too. Lots of gaps between songs due to many pre-play procedures

But CD can't beat the emotion of the songs, especially vocals. The singers voice is just so :lust:

  10. Used to own a Electrocompaniet ECD-1 which worked really nicely for me, not to mention quite chio too.

But sold that cos' I wanted to simplify my setup though I still have a Logitech transporter, which I am considering selling. Its quite a good and very flexible DAC as it can connect to the internet via wifi and receive internet radio on top of streaming music from a wireless NAS setup.

sell sell sell! i wana try. any chance you going down anywhere?

Not so soon la, maybe after I given it a proper listen. But I do have too many cans lying around and may consider selling it and my HF2, which would mean that I'll be done with dynamic cans. If that's the case, my beloved HP4 will have to go too. Just too little time to provide enough love for all my cans
