  1. Hey guys! i am intending to get the Iaudio X5 with an amp- Go vibes and Um1. However, i stumbled on a thread in head-fi forums that the line out in the sub pack for X5 is rather "weak" therefore i would like to ask if amping the X5 help improve the SQ?

Perhaps you guys could recommend me other sources which can be amped with the UM1s! thx

  2. Westone Um1 and Um2, Sennheiser CX300 In-Ear, Apple In-Ear, Etymotic Er4, Er6, Shure E2C

I heard about problems with people sleeping with Shure E3C, where the grey sleeve went too deep for extraction when they wake up.

Ultimate Ears Super.fi series are definitely not sleep-friendly unless switch-sides of the drivers. But not so sure about the comfort though.

There are also a few fellow forumers who nearly killed themselves when they toss and turn during their sleep with IEMs. :D

    Have fun!

    nearly killed themselves??

  3. hmm been away due to prelims and recently rediscovered the small bag of nivea lotion which uncle wilson asked me to experiment on... sorrie for the late report uncle wilson :))

Previously in the UM1 topic, i asked how the triflanges can be soften. Uncle wilson told me experiemtn using nivea body lotion..hmm sounds odd eh? I soaked one of the the tri flanges uncle wilson provided and it worked!!! the tri flanges is softer compared to the untouched one.... still soaking and have yet tried it on but when i compressed it, it veri nua

    hope this results helps =D

perhaps i can soak the other one in olive oil =D

That is correct, but not highly recommended because although it is theoretically perfect, I think FLAC to WAV isn't advisable too.. but you can try and tell us the differences..

I think FLAC to WAV isn't advisable too

hmm care to explain??? btw read in wiki that its like zip format.. so if music files are zipped and i dl those.. isit uncompressed?? or it onli applies for files in music CDs. :helpsmilie:^_^

  5. An mp3 is a lossy codec. What this means is that it discards data during the encoding process. That means the data that was discarded is gone forever. You cannot reconstruct something out of nothing -therefore you can never get the "original" uncompressed song, no matter which lossless codec you use to transcode.

so ..hmm.. i can onli get back the uncompressed version of the song if it is encoded using lossless codecs?

  6. hmmm did a search within the forum archive.... and the net but i still have some prob...

wats the difference between lossless from apple and 320kbps and AIFF or FLAC.. still quite lost..

lossless data compression.. does it allow the original quality of the song to be constructed if i convert it using eg. apple's lossless.... for music files downloaded and ripped..

  7. argh. i dont see many people around who wear headphones or IEMs.

so far, i only see ibuds all around, and mostly others are wearing clips-ons. at some times, i see a couple wearing sony canals (those where the cables rot).

so far, the only IEM i saw was a shure e2c late at night in a bus, and the only few headphones i saw was only sennheiser lower ends...

yep same here... been seeing ibuds everywhere..have yet seen anyone using headphones though.. the only IEMs i saw was mine :))
