  1. And I guess "Simon" did not request for these that you were kind enough to share with us?

I also suppose you do not have any agenda behind the above points made.

    :yes::yes::yes:

on hindsight, I guess its a lot of assumptions being made on my side, but I guess your posts tend to cause just that.

    Yah

Is SE not a customs certified dealer or is the website just not updated?

  2. Frist of all, thanks for the mods for maitaining this not so easy forum.

Just a simple question, are dealers like SE and bluetin have direct financial contribution to support the forum?

    if yes, good for everyone.

if no, then i think it's a good idea that we do the old ways.. when dealers are dealers, forum is forum. no money or interest involved, thus no such argument involved.

    just my 2 cents.

I gotta say, that might be the best way

If there's no financial contribution, i think there should be just one kind of member.. well, other than a few mods i guess

  3. The thing is, the tips aren't fake..

Westone isn't the only company that can make custom tips

One thing that no one else mentioned is that the only non-um56 custom tips jaben was ever involved with are the glitter ones

All the rest are made by westone, and you misunderstood me about the price

Heck, while i was there in august-ish i saw him getting a package from westone containing 4 or so pairs of custom tips

ps. I'm getting an ES2 via jaben, and i sent the earmolds myself to westone because i'm currently overseas

  4. ... SE has not been an authorized Westone dealer for long

About a month or so ago when i checked their website, the only singapore distributor was jaben

Even now, they're only listed for their universal products, nothing about customs

Maybe the (unique) UM2 custom tips at jaben aren't the UM56, but people who got them knew them as a one-off tips, one of a kind thing, not UM56 by westone. They work well, and all the other tips seems to be the normal westone ones, so what's the problem?

Not very long after jaben was banned from the forums, SE started offering the ES2 (which people usually go to jaben to buy) for a price that's lower than anywhere in the world, even america. As i understand it, SE or any other overseas distributor has to cover shipping costs to america

I'd call that bad business ethics, draw your own conclusion..

To the mods, even if you find this post accusing, etc etc, please don't delete it. I think everyone needs to see all sides of the argument

EDIT: here's a quote from the 'fake' UM56 owner:

To be fair, Wilson of Jaben Network has NEVER represented to me that they were Westone UM56's. I remembered that he had merely said that they were custom earmolds meant for the Westone UM2. It transpired that the first batch of earmolds were sent to another company for fabrication.

  5. I'm getting a pair from uncle wilson too :P

How long did it take since you made impressions until you get them?

I'm getting mine black/black (trying to make it as unnoticable as possible)

Oh and another thing, overall which custom fit did you like better? the one taken with open or closed mouth?

    Mmmmm can't wait

  6. Why did AKG discontinue the K1000 since it was so popular, just as it is now?

I believe that it creates the "exculsivity" so that the headphone is THE item to get. The K1000s have become so popular after discountinuation, and so has other limited edition stuff, like the HF-1. The HE90 was probably a one-off experiment for Sennheiser to test the extreme high-end electrostats market.

They're not really famous.. AT ALL

Here or around head-fi, yeah, but that only makes a tiny portion of the whole society

Same goes with HF-1, hardly anyone (the general public) have heard of them

I don't think they even sold that many, even many people in these forums would think that spending $1000 US dollars on a headphone is absurd, even though it sounds OOOHHH SOOO SWEET

So can you tell i want one? :innocent:

  7. Actually, Adelphi is a great place. Plus there is a building nearby (next to funan, if I am not wrong) which has a lot of guitar shops in the basement level.

Yeah, that's davis guitar in peninsula, i go there to get strings everytime i go to singapore (the ONLY place i know, anywhere in the world that carries red acoustic DR strings, don't know why)

Thanks guys, i guess i'll just look around adelphi :D

EDIT: OH wow, i just browsed google for a bit and found where luther music is and, guitar 77, both at 5 coleman street

LOTS of things to do :D

  8. But u can always burned your mp3 songs to a CD. And the good thing is u have all your nice songs in a cd.

The question is the mp3 & the CD sound, does it make a difference or can a mp3 sound better than a cd.

An mp3 file can't possibly sound BETTER than a cd

Maybe sounds equal to the listener (who knows) but it can't be better than the real source

    uncompressed>compressed. always.

Does it really improve your CD sound if u convert to 192KBps as CD sound is at 128KBps ?

And wat about mp3 song converted to 192KBps ?

I was told by my friend there is a great difference from 128KBps to 192KBps ( 192KBps is much much more better ) but converting to greater than 192KBps does not make really a difference. He is usiing realtime player to do it.

If that's the case, then wats the future of CD ? Since MP3 sound is better, easily access & cheaper.

    This made no sense..

Cds are not at 128kbps, your friend is lying. and how much better is just a matter of how much difference you can hear

cds will always be around.. hopefully

I personally use 224AAC, i can only tell the difference up to there (other than ALAC, but not enough space in my ipod  )

  9. Well said :))

The early 70s is the time where Jimmy Page felt that Led Zeppelin were at their artistic and musical peak. Many concert attendence records were smashed during their tours and that itself speak volumes.

(OT a bit, their double DVD set which shows their concert performance rocks man!!)

Sorry mate, but i'd have to disagree here..

Early led zep, page was technically much better, maybe its because of less/no drugs

    Want proof? Watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ww9CpcoN-og

    You dig? :smoke:

  10. What kind of music do you listen to?

If rock- I'd reccommend grados/alessandros, whichever one u can afford (I reccommend the SR225, or alessandro MS1 if you want to keep it low cost)

If jazz/female vocals- DT880 (try and find one used, it's worth it)

    Classical and everything else- HD580/HD600

All IMO of course, but i had all these and kept the SR225, im more a rock person

I'm assuming u have an amp?

If you don't, I'd reccomend getting the MS1 or HD580 and get a cheap-ish amp (cmoy, or maybe PAV2V2, look them up)

Visit Jaben network at the adelphi, 4th floor (never been there, don't even live in singapore), they sell alessandros and beyers, theres a store down the road that sells grados!

  11. Hey all, been lurking around this forum for a while (member of head-fi)

I'm going to be stopping at Singapore for a couple of days..

I might get a pair here, any places where i can check out?

I've visited Anything Audio and will probably go there again, anywhere else i missed?

Also, how much are these going for in singapore? (looking for the new versions)

Neway, opinions on the cans themselves? I'm looking for the sr225's fun and dt880's comfort and 'air'
