My friend got his AKG K701 for less than S$400. AKG K701 Cost US$249+S9.90(Ship in US)+ shipping to Singapore S$10.90(Promotion under UOB Card). So much cheaper than mine bought a week ago in Singapore. Only catch is the Vpost is dammm slow with lousy tracking system. Prepare to wait for more than 3 weeks for the whole episode.

Bank wire isn't the same as credit card right? Wouldn't credit card be easier?

The problem is they do not accept credit card with address outside US. It is a big joke for a company who do business in web and yet has almost zero online transaction facility..

Guys, last time i called vpost singapore.

 

They said that customs will tax anything more than 400sgd incl. of freight charges.

 

So if your total is more than 400 youll get charged the gst.

 

It should be correct from the last time i call them which is about 3 weeks ago.

If the price is around USD$245-250, then with Vpost delivery charges, you may merely just avoid paying the GST 5%. It is definately attractive price to cost around ~S$420 (inclusive of shipping cost to reach your home)as compared with local price of approximately S$600.

I have recently contacted Northernsound on their so called the cheapest AKG701 for 2 weeks or so. I must say that their service was so so and respond time really piss you off. Basically you have to wait a few days after you have e-mailed them. As they do not have any online transaction facility, and I have to make so many IDD calls to them to confirm my particulars and asked them send me the invoice and bank particular..

The funny part was when I receive their invoice for bank wire, the amount have jumped from USD244.54 to USD278. It was kind of vomit blood process...I lost confident in placing my order through them.

I did a check and found that the total cost for the k701, ship and gst would be about S$455. Not bad price.

 

Wait... there's no gst charge on this since one of components in the calculation is just under the limit... so it's actually S$426. That's really nice.

 

Register for a vpost account. Then ask northernsound to send to vpost's address. Pay vpost the amount to ship to sg. Not sure how vpost knows it's your package though... but that's roughly how it works.

 

Oh they require you to use a certain name for the package to be sent to so as to know whose package it is.

S$455 is definately cheaper than here....Can not understand why local distributor charge so high.

I don't think they ship to Singapore, but vPost should do the job. Shouldn't cost more than SGD40 (if I remember correctly).

Hmmm.. It is still much cheaper than getting it from Singapore. How to use VPost to order?

Shipping is a pain though, and it should be a small risk to take because the headphone may be faulty (small chance though)

Robert and his gangs have terminated thousand and thousand of cables. Should not doubt on their termination skill. However, a person need to understand the unique construction of this 2803 and have to terminate it carefully beside the skillful soldering.

I tell you, most people even "Lau Chio" will cut away the small puny centre tube or accidentally trim off the fine strands when do the soldering. I think why audience au24 cost so much is because they may have done a good job on this portion. It is especially painful when 2803 match with bullet connector.

I own many pair of mogami with different connector from nuetric, cardas to bullet. I were puzzed why they did not sound as good as audience au24 even 100 of hours of running in until I open a pair of audience au24 and found out the answer.

It is a good IC if it is terminated carefully and properly. Don't expect magic from this cable but it definately worth more than the money you paid for as compared with many other overpriced IC in the market.

Wow guys..Just back from LHS again after a long chat with Robert..... got a power cord and ask to help re-terminates+ sleeves my Mogami 2803.. cause i suspect the termination done by the previous owner sucks... When Robert open out to see.. the connections has loosen and everything seen like to break off.. ...

 

Just re listen to the "New" Mogami wow i almost and then at MJ's Thriller.... i ... and fall of my chair...

His termination....hmmmmm. You better check the fine wire around and inside the small teflon tube were not cut. You want to get a full potential of this IC, you must make sure not to cut any strands. I own many pairs of these ICs and it affects sound drastically for sensitive set up with different termination.

It definately worths $60/m but a lot of people overated it like magic cable. It perpforms well with its price range.
