Simon & Garfunkel - Live from New York City, 1967 remarkable sound quality, superb from the sixties. [attachmentid=3892] PS. Charismatic, I like your style of humble comments on the album

My latest acquisition: Fine recording, fine music, simply amazing.

with flat pads the sound also becomes muddy to my ears, highs cut off no more fun. YMMV.

they are a bunch of balanced amps out there, such as Gilmore GS-X, Rudistor RPX-100, RP010B, RP7B, Ray samuels B-52, Apache, ... The cheapest (relatively speaking) being the NX-33 from Rudistor. All have balance input and output. You might also want to look at the CEC HD53 amp: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=246277

Jaben has brought in the Lavry DA10, you can bring your CD5001 and hook it up. I am sure it will be better than your cdp, but does it worth the cost you have to ask yourself.

I second the recommendation on Grover's interconnect, you can search more info in head-fi or SH forum.
