The Ipod Nano 2g has really bad build quality compared to the first generation.
The LCD screen has been reported to break after a drop

IMO I think any player that can be rockboxed have good SQ and tweakable EQ settings.. but I agree nano 2G default EQ settings really sucks.
Yeah but all the other generations have got stability issues and skipping issues with Equaliser on.
Nano and Video has the least of those issues.

Am building my ultraportable. Just want to know if the 2gen Ipod Nano SQ gd? Else is there any really compact mp3 players that have good sq and equalizer?
If you want good sound, get the first generation Nano or Video and rockbox it

Seems like a far cry from this picture
You sure you don't wanna continue working on it or something?
-
Wah don't call those a budget item leh lol.
-
they did.. if u consider comfort and quality, go for grey flex (IMO).. biflange and triflange mayb too uncomfortable to wear..
Is this from personal experience?

Modding the shure tri-flange is just a couple snips of the scissors. My fav tip so far.
Hmm didn't know that the eartips are available for testing as well, seems like I will have to go down to SE and test them out. Hopefully Aron would mod it for me

I'm looking to change the default foam eartips for my UM1 because well, I don't like the colour and they don't provide the kind of isolation I need.
I read a review on the different eartips and have singled out three of them.
Etymotic Research triflange - Used on UM1/2 & ER•6i (Converted to biflange)ER’s triflange have no stem but it is softer and more comfortable than Shure’s. Sound wise, when compared to the Shure’s, there is no difference. You need a stem to mount it onto a Westone. So I used the snipped off top flange as a stem.
Shure triflange – Used on UM1/2 (Converted to biflange)
As above, the Shure’s are harder and have a stem. Makes mounting them easier but they’re more uncomfortable for me. Shure and ER’s converted biflange gave me the most isolation besides the Standard Complys. They also sound the best.
Shure grey flex - Used on UM1/2 & ER•6i
These are mono flange tips. Very similar to those cheaper in-ears’ tips. I use them (With its stem shortened) on my ER6i as they’re more comfortable than the biflanges and provides the same SQ. These work very well for the Westone as well. They can be as good as a biflange, sound wise and isolation wise.
Anyone has got experiences with the eartips? How hard will the modding be?
Still thinking of what to buy, please help! Thanks!

wa that means u only tested one instrumental piece and u bought it? seems so rushed
I bought it without even testing it. LOL

Guess some people like to bullsh*t then. 2 years sounds logical

Shure warranty is 2 years right?
Intend to bring it down for servicing..
Any idea what is their operating hr?
Pretty sure a guy said that it's 3 months and he called up to check
-
I think if you soften it too much, it's not gonna be able to provide proper isolation

the price for the iPod 2g 8GB can get a 30GB real iPod leh.. all $428, don't know why their pricing that way
You notice the storage capacity but you don't notice the size difference?
-
Hey, Aron, do you sell the Shure Tri-flanges? If you do, what is the price?
-
Didn't test but since there was a warranty, didn't care that much.
Seems to work properly.
-
Hahah, I didn't have much extra cash with me.
Are you talking about the Shure Tri-flanges?
-
I only got home then at that time and posted here when I had the chance.
The UM2s are out of my price range

We were talking about ROCKbox. And I wasn't talking about lock ups.
