  1. Are you looking for 'in working condition' model?
  2. Yup. 1-9-6-9. give 1 or 2 years either way. Came in the original 12" vinyl LP. Then, when the CD version appeared, bought it but the sound couldn't be compared to the original analogue version. I think the latest is a 24K gold version by Mobile-Fidelity. It has never been out of print. This is one of those rare 'evergreens'.
  3. I’d bought my first copy of “Jazz Samba†w-a-a-y back in 1969 or thereabout. The artistry of & the chemistry amongst the players was evident from the first note. Joao Gilberto with his unique way of singing, the way the melody floats and ride on the rhythm section makes you want to listen to it again and again. Even today, nearly 40 years later, I’m still enjoying it, discovering some new nuances with my Westone UM2 & Hornet amp. . There was a follow-up album called (appropriately) “Jazz Samba Encoreâ€. It’s good but somehow it couldn’t further that ground-breaking synthesis of bossa-nova & jazz.
  4. Highly recommended:- 1. "The Composer of Desafinado Plays" 2. "Wave" - Both by Antonio Carlos Jobim 3. "Jazz Samba" - A C Jobim & Stan Getz / tenor sax (with Luiz Bonfa / Guitarist) Enjoy.
  5. Bought the 2-CD set "Gary Moore: The Best of the Blues" from Gramaphone (Capitol Centre). Ripped them into Applelossless. First impression (via the UM2) is that it sounded a bit 'polite' - not enough of 'grittiness'. Anyway, still enjoy listening. Can play loud with the "Hornet". And no complain from my other half.
  6. "Timeless" - Sergio Mendes - Surprisingly, samba and hip-hop goes well together here. "Francis Albert Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim" (recorded in the 70s) - Beautiful phrasing by Sinatra floating on top of Jobim's loping bossa. Beautiful. Just listen to "Baubles, Bangles and Beads". The Westone UM2 makes the vocal sound very natural. One of my all-time favourites. Has been in print since the first release in the late 60's. Getz, Gilberto, Jobim - Wow. Great artistry. Swinging in an effortless way.
  7. Thanks MemoryLane, will be heading that way.
  8. Thanks for that tip. Looks like going to be a busy weekend, what with SITEX @ SporeExpo.
  9. Yes! Now I do recall "Still got the blues". Must go and hunt for it. HMV perhaps ? Thanks, Braxton.
  10. The last time I heard him was in the hey-days of the cassette. Remember "Dolby B" ? and Sony Walkman ? Now that I've some quality gear, can anyone recommend any 'must-listen' tracks / CDs ? Thanks.
