Please note the plastic discoloration and oxidation of the cables. According to ALO, the oxidation is a normal process for these cables and do not affect the sound quality of cables.

Quote” Pretty much all bare copper stranded wire in a clear jacket that is handled very often is going to discolor. We have not experienced any adverse sonic effects of this discoloring. I understand it might not look very attractive to some. IMPORTANT!! If the thought of the copper turning dark or patina color over time please do not purchase a JenaLabs cable. Go with another cable wire type like the ALO SXC Cryo wire. Because we feel that the coloring is not effecting the sound signature we will not be exchanging or doing any kind of refund if you should encounter this phenomena.“ Unquote.

  3. well, that doesnt give him the excuses for ignoring the customers' emails.

lots of people on head-fi complain about headamp's communication issues but it seems like justin does not care much, and people simply give up on it. during the 3+ months of waiting time, i sent several emails/messages to justin but none were answered. the only email i've ever received from him was when he was requesting the payment.

pico is an extraordinary product. however, if you prefer a great communication and short waiting period (or none at all), try the predator. a lot of people actually prefer predator over pico when it comes to the sound quality. or meier audio's corda 2move is a similar product for a lot less money. or go-vibe petetie usb for even less money.

    just my 2.1 cents.

Haha .. you know Justin is reading the threads, he is just replying the emails selectively based on what he wants to answer I guess .. and for some reason, he doesn't seem interested in replying emails regarding order ETAs and stuff like that. But he is very willing to answer any technical questions though.

If i remember correctly, Justin is running Headamp by himself, maybe that explains why .. i do agree that if you find the customer service not up to par . .. put your hard earn cash somewhere else then .. like RSA ? :)

  4. my source was computer(winamp + asio) -> keces da-151 -(via diy rca to mini cable)> pico/iqube -> hd650, ms2, dt990 250ohm, altec im716, mylarone x3.

i guess i shouldnt have said iqube was not close to pico/predator. it was the opposite of my idea of choosing pico and predator a preference. i worded it wrong since i preferred the sound of pico over i-qube's.

but the i only played with the i-qube for only 2 days. maybe i shouldve given it more chance.

anyway, the waiting time for pico sucks big time. i ordered mine in february and received it in late may. =(

if youre gonna order one, keep that in mind.

    happy listening!

    OH MAN ! .. That's 3 MONTH WAIT !!

  5. Couldn't agree more ....

Pico is probably more because most people still in waiting list

Agree predator is rare. However, people seems to be offloading their hornets. Is it that bad?

From what i read .. the Predator is 1 setep higher then Hornet

  6. i-qube does not come close to pico or predator in sound quality.

comparing pico vs predator, it's just a matter of preference. both are extremely similar products.

pico has high-end wolfson dac in it, and a lot of people use pico as usb dac + preamp to feed home amps.

predator's sound is actually loved more by many users in head-fi. it supposedly had deeper bass and smoother sound ovreall.

however, the sq difference between pico and predator are supposed to be very very subtle.

i cannot give my own comparison b/c i only have a pico. its an amazing product, and it's so freaking tiny! after seeing so many pictures online, i knew it was tiny. but when i finally had it in my hands, all i could say was OMFG. =)

Hi TJUMPER78, what IEMs/headphones and Source did you test these amps with?

I wouldn't say that the i-qube isn't close to the pico or predator. I'll say they are all fantastic amps but of diff characteristics. It's just your preference .... isn't it good to have more choice? I had tried both the pico and predator but felt they sound very close in characteristics before I got the i-qube. It wasn't easy since everyone was talking about the pico and predator. Simple.... always follow your ears. Not the reviews. I still love every bit with my i-qube and not likely to sell it off. That's probably the reason why there aren't much people selling the i-qube.... they must be loving every minute with the i-qube. I can only say for those who have not tried it...... It's not like any other amps you've tried. It's ultra natural..... almost transparent.

Well said. Though I would like to also say that the Pico and Predator are quite rare at the Sale forums as well. :P

  7. I think you prefer warmer music. iQube probably sounds too cold for your liking.

Anyway if you don't like it it's even better for your wallet. They are not cheap and no one in classified seems to be selling.

yeap .. i believe you are right .. personal perference for warmer music .. which could explain why i prefer the pico over the predator ..

    imho, in terms of warmness

    1. Pico

    2. Predator

    3. iQube

  8. Sorry,Bro.... still love every bit of my I-qube. Nothing out there sounds like it.

for some reason, i personally did not like the iqube even with all the rave reviews. It sound hollow and uninviting to me. Like sitting in a wide open field and listening to the performance. with the pico and predator, i feel more engaged and involved in the performance. I think this is being described as being upfront. But then that's my personal opinion and perference. Will differ from person to person.

  9. Thinking of getting the Pico, will that be available in Jaben? Thought these are sold online.

Jaben doesn't sell Pico at the moment but they do have the demo unit. Headamp can barely keep up with the pre orders at this point in time.

  10. I have auditioned iqube, pico, hornet today, which my SE530 and iPod 5th generation.

I'm not very good at describing, but here's my impression of them.

    iQube

I would rank this top class. Awesome control of bass. Deep impactful punch that goes all the way down.

The kind of bass i am looking for but yet not overwhelming and tight enough. Details and decay are impressive as well. However, there are slight background hiss when volume is 0. Neutral sounding.

    Pico

Do not really like the way it handled the bass portion. I would describe it as a very hard punch, but it did not go as deep as iqube. Slightly warm, the last bit of details seems to lose out to iqube. Very silent, no background hiss at 0 volume.

    Hornet

I would call this sweet. My songs sound good on it. Very enjoyable. Bass is deep as well, just the way i want it.

Details slightly below iqube and pico. Very silent amp as well, no background hiss at 0 volume.

Overall, i would rank iqube 1st, followed by hornet and pico. This is purely based on my preference for a certain sound signature.

Did you try the predator .. I PERSONALLY felt that it was the sweet spot between the pico and the iqube. The pico bass was slighlty overwhelming but the iqube sounded hollow.
