  1. there are THREE different group buys.

1 for the PCB and components from AMB.

    1 for the enclosure.

1 for the laser cut panels (which IIRC is acrylic? i think).

    ok guys. just a suggestion.

unless you guys are going to have one person buy all the components together and then split them. its more convenient to buy all the components yourself from farnell together with the enclosure, thats because if your order is over $30 shipping is waived. unless you wanna save $2 bucks and go through the hassle.

  2. enclosure get from digikey/farnell/mouser.

like what mouz said, he will not be providing the full kit as it is too messy.

faceplate i bought from AMB himself. the current face plates are selling at 40USD i bought at 20USD so that was ok for me.

after building it i wouldnt say its much easier then the mini3.

this one has the huge hassle of testing every single smd chip for shorts before you power on and due to this many smd chips? its very very easy to bridge them with solder or have cold joints. i also spent many hours just trying to remove the solder bridges.

  3. nah im not trying to scare ppl away.

    the more diyers the merrier.

just that i dont want ppl to fall in to the trap thinking that it is easy to do.

as per murphy's law, 50/50 chance it doesn't work on the 1st try.

as to troubleshooting, you'll need the appropriate tools and some know-how (so you don't kill something unknowingly).

    its just facts.

  4. The estimated total cost without the AMB custom cut panels are about SGD200 including shipping.

This build is about med to med-high difficulty. This should NOT be your first few projects. The SMD chips are hard to solder, make sure you have fine tipped iron and be prepared to order more SMD chips and worse comes to worse a new board.

PS: You should have basic electronic troubleshooting skills and tools. I repeat, this is not a starter build. Neither is it a project for those who have just finished a CMOY.

  5. hey guys, i pre-ordered with my y1 panels so i guess im not in the MO this time.

but if you guys are up for the parts from digikey/mouser/farnell/rs i might be up for it. i have the full BOM.

btw. i really dont recommend the y1 for a first/2nd project. not only are there smd components. the dacs and pcm chips are all multi legged sensitive chips. if you die die also want to do this. my suggestion is buy a spare pcm2707 as its pretty hard to get now.
