I'm thinking of the RME 9632. 24/192 card from a good pro recording company. their previous Digi96/8's highly praised by the HTPC community..but it'll be about S$700 at least

I already got some strange stares today......the isolation is pretty got for outside noise but just seems that it is unable to isolate the rumble of the bus engine when i am on the bus....maybe that rumble is just exceptional

Well anyway....main purpose is for using in my home studio so that the headphone monitors wont leak into the condenser mics

Got myself a set of phones for home studio monitoring.....the Senn HD280.......initial impression quite good.....less grainy then the HD497 definitely.....

Ablaze: Check out the M audio 2496....quite expensive though....so I went for the older card the Dman PCI which only cost me US$58 including shipping......only 18 bit crystal converter...but should be enough....

i have only seen terratec cards on innovative media....

the mobile pre or delta series could also be a choice...

hahah........i maybe interested in getting those with breakout boxes....so still too early to say.....

but how is the pricing though? any idea what price?

oh....I am using more for recording purpose....so the outputs are not as important as inputs...prefer rca connectors to mini...

ablaze: hmmm.....I dont remember adjusting windows controls...but all I remembered was that it comes with a audio software and that software has the ability to adjust more than just the volume.......the eq.....the reverb.....and eq adjustment can be chosen at any frequency that you wanted......

Hmm....that could be very useful if you have a less than perfect headphones or if you want to boost the deep bass without affecting any other frequency

How bout trying some pro sound cards.......think they should easily > 400 bucks.....( something like the one ablaze has). Tthey should have analogue and digital out making it good for an amp or even with a DAC in future.... .Thus doing justice to your 831....
