  2. and in poisoning him, i myself got a pair of UM1 hahaha. i cant believe the detail i'm getting from these tiny lil things. portable music will never be the same again. haha. *friend just deleted all non-320-kbps mp3s from playlist hahaha*

  4. Hi guys, a friend of mine owns an iphone. and he's thinking of getting an earphone upgrade, but with a tight budget in mind. i recommended a pair of mylars. but for a budget of around $100, what do your guys think? i was also eyeing the koss sparkplugs, but i havent been able to find much reviews on them. anyone's got experience with them? or should he go with 2nd hand IEMs? like the shure scl2 or UE metro-fi for instance? or since he's not an avid listener, should he just go for mainstream products? like sony/panasonic in ears? thanks in advance all.

    vinyl clock

heya thanks, but as you can probably tell, its a gift for a friend and it has already been given away. the back part is basically the same as any other clock/alarm clock. the axle is fixed onto the record via a nut. the hands are easily removed by using a pair of pliers.

well this isnt directly related to audio. but i guess i'd like to share what you guys can do with old records that are beyond repair. enjoy! (:
  7. yeah haha. the connection on the input jack to the ground wasnt soldered properly.
  8. okay it works now, thanks heady! much appreciated
  9. Hi guys, i purchased a cmoy kit from jaben a long time ago. i only decided to build it this evening as i intend to give it as a gift for a friends birthday. however, i'm facing some problems. the kit that i bought came with a burr brown OPA277P. when i tried it, theres no sound at all. so i tried rolling with the other op-amps that i own. tried the JRC 4556AD and National LM4562. the music does come on, on both channels, however, the vocals seemed suppressed. its like those karaoke machines that try to delete the voice recording on songs. normally, the 45556AD and LM4562 work perfectly on my RA1 clone. but that runs on 18V power supply. so i'm wondering if you guys know what could be the problem? is it due to the op-amp/other components? if its an op-amp problem, where can i get one fast? and i do not have a multimeter cause i lent it to someone. thanks lots!
  10. while speakers are important, amps are just as important. if you have a high-end speakers and low-end amps, chances are, you are not fully utilizing the full potential of your speakers. furthermore, as higher end speakers tend to be more revealing, it will reveal the weaknesses of your amp. similarly, using a low-end speaker and high-end amp will not fully utilize your amps full performance. so for me, its always a 50/50 priority. and yes, your amp will need a phono input and a ground input. turntables need to be grounded using a seperate wire see...
  11. Hi, i have 2 pairs of Russian military grade 6n6p-i power tubes imported directly from ukraine. These tubes are highly recommended from the little dot forums. Do note that one of the tubes do not have the metallic black paint coat at the top of the tube. Comes in box as shown on picture. Tese tubes are also equivalent to ECC89 and E182CC. Selling at $25 a pair and deal only in Tampines. PM me if interested thanks all.
  12. why dont you get the ra1 diy kit instead from alvin1118?
  13. i own the mk2. and i am very happy with how it sounds. i'm running mine through mullard ef95 and it sounds fantastic. if you're starting out and have a tight budget, the little dot mk2 will work for you. as for tube rolling, pm me and we can discuss something out. (:
  14. thats the purpose of a case imo. hahaha. to hide the ugly/messy wires. but of course, thats not the REAL reason behind it.
  15. lol yes. you should see my first cmoy attempt. the post is still somewhere here i think. very ugly soldering. but like what everyone here says, practice makes perfect. i also realise that for the solder to stick to the components, the leads on the components have to be hot enough. if its cool, then it'll just stick to the soldering iron. that said, putting too much temperature on the components will damage it. fyi, i fried 2 op-amps from overheating. but now i use those dip sockets. =D and very very nice job on the casing. 1000x better than mine. even the current one i'm using hahah. keep it up (:
