  1. I have audited the Origin Live and Clear audio at Modular Audio. But, the 2 table have different tonearm and Cartridge on them, so it is not an Apple to Apple, orange to Orange comparison....I don't think Oyster will want to swap the cartridge and cartridge just to sell a $4-5k table...

    check with him, you won't know. actually he set up OL Aurora MK2 & Clearaudio Performance 2 side by side for easy a/b last week. I was invited but I didn't go.

    I don't have problem using differnt cartridge for different TT during audition. Just an idea of how the set up sound like is fine to me. important is whether you like the sound & apperance or not. moreover u might not get the same cartridge as the demo TT.

    just my 0.20 cents.

  2. I think decided not to do the Garrad 301 now...Have audit a few Origin Live , clear audio, avid... I listen to Jazz old Jazz (Blue Note mainly)....don't feel like spending more than 5K for it...Prefer MM cartridge ..

    Clearaudio performance + Clearaudio Maestro may suite your need. they are like gentleman in suit.

    Origin Live more for rock and pop imo. they have punch.

    never heard Avid, can't commend.

    VPI Classic is another nice choice. a bit off budget here.

  3. Bought thousands dollar worth of LP and still Turntable to play with...Really hard to decide which one to get...

    beside Garrard & Lenco, what other TT you prefer?

    how's your music preference & budget.

    you need audition :grin::grin::cans::cans:

  4. !!!!

    GYBE is a post-rock band, in the same vein as Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky, they tend to be more epic though, their tracks are pretty long. Instrumental, ambient pieces, sometimes symphonic. Not a girl's band, man.

    haha... he just joking :P we like pulling each others leg here. :beer:

    GYBE is somehow easy to digest compare to other ambient, drone, experimental groups i heard.

    are you a fan of GYBE too?

  5. :rclxms::drool:

    You got so many records? :lust:

    If can afford this, my kopi tiam uncle washing dishes act is over. :))

    no la, my collection of LPs are slim :blush:

    imo it kind of tire to wash records either with machine or kopi tiam style :no::rclxub:

    the end result somehow rewarding :thumbup:

    Nope, is the controversy Rega White Belt.

    IPB Image

    From the musicdirect.com web site:

    "The White Belt is made from a new type of rubber; this ultra-pure rubber doesn't have any dyes in it, hence the white color. This new material is smoother and stronger than the standard drive belt, Rega claims the White Belt is the most accurate drive belt they have ever produced, one that guarantees precision and improved motor control."

    the belt however does making the sound more solid, images, vocalists and instruments more distinct. the improvement was easily noticeable but not "dramatic improvements".

    with this price. i'm happy on the "Upgrade" :smoke:
