hmmm i got tired of it, mainly because in headphones , your left ear do not know what your right ear is listening and therefore soundstaging is crippled in a sense, that's why i moved to speakers where the soundstage is more suitable to me.
those who do not understand pls visit meier-audio (europle company) and have a look at their crossfeeds circuit, it makes better soundstaging for headphones in their line of headphone amps.
i might go back to headphones but i will make a big jump then for my set up because i feel its better for my pocket then upgrading constantly . .

budget?
maybe you could try ray samuels, meier audio and such , they have quite some features

IMO the Near 05 is aobut 500$ ? its quite a price difference

absolutely not enough for delivering full potential of full sized headphones. Because portable amplifiers or headphone amplifiers have a much higher voltage and current than laptops which is intended to produce just enough for sound

haha ! congrates ! ! for your info it needs massive burn in time to sound less bright and more balanced
what cables are u using for ur ushers? for me VDH cs122 to lower their brightness

if my mood is bad, usually i'd blast the volume and listen to mostly rock songs xD

Dream theatre, linkin park, nightmare of you, cranberries, amber pacific

hmm thought of "thats why you go away" by michael learns to rock
its lyrics are so touching because of real life experience

If you want to audition the marantz 7001 KI SACD player, head down to adelphi 1st floor, audio act electronics, they have good prices ( i bought the 7001ki amplifier for a good price ) .
For playing back normal audio CD's, at ~$800 you can try audiolabs 8000 , they have positive feedback
another new player at $850 ~ is usher cd-7 , at x-audio @ bukit timah

actually if you don't mind, consider the IEM which goes right into your ear, its better on the go than open headphones IMO, try the um1's , they cost about $160 ~

I've been using CD6002 , bought it around $420 and its prominently better than the 5001, you might consider saving up for it if your budget is low

den to bookshelf speakers . . .
its not enough . . .
