  10. hahaha, that's another way of looking at "tears". I need to lighten up-I don't have any contribution for this kind of funny.

  13. Mahler's 5th Symphony, 4th Movement: Adagietto. This was played at JF Kennedy burial.
  14. I've been making it a point to detour from SE whenever I'm in the vicinity or when I feel this mysterious magnetic pull on my wallet.
  15. Oh dear, maybe I've been conned!!! I have a pair of Castles and Arcam CD player, pre-amp and a power-amp. There are quite a few cables needed. interconnects. 2 pairs running from each speaker...etc.
  16. ... to add to the list... Sting doing John Dowland, the lights of Maksim (Yeeks!) the Bond Girls (or whatever), Vanessa May (I think she tried serious classical once and failed). But sad to say, they sell more records than the serious ones. Yeah, but even within the serious community of musicians, there are those who drift too far off. Agree with you on this.
  17. I paid $900 for my hi-fi cables from a friend who DIY them. Copper cables. Sorry, don't know the details. I had monster cables before the switch. The difference was obvious. Bass and overall noticeably more musical. Since then, I have been a believer. I was told, not tried it myself, that silver can make a sound harsh because of too much detail. Well, I guess it makes sense because of the level of conductivity. Copper is warmer. I compared Cresendo's silver, copper directs and stock cables on my D2 Boa with a pair of SR80 with WAV. Noticeable difference between stock and the others, but really couldn't hear much of a diff between silver and copper. With a prices difference of 100%, sorry man, I'm not going to go for silver. I think I would also agree that it is dependent on the system. Mid to high range home hi-fi system is very different from a portable one.
  18. Do you guys really feel that iPod is bad even when amp-ed and using direct cables? I mean with direct, doesn't it make iPod a simple source and leaves much of the sound to the amp? Any thoughts.
  19. Impressive. Thanks. Karajan does to this day remain synonymous with BP. Further to your point on how the composer's music is best played the way the composer probably meant for it. Hmm... yeah that's controversial. There is another school of thought that thinks otherwise and extends on works with their own interpretations. Like the way Gould romanticized Bach. Heretical perhaps, but personally I feel like art, good music has taken a life of its own and has become the ownership of performers almost as much as the composers themselves. Heheh, but to be honest, I can't ignore the fact that I slant towards the newer recordings by simple fact that they are acoustically better.
  20. How did I get into this obsession? 2 words: STEREO ELECTRONICS!!! I had to visit them. Sigh.... well, to be fair, I've always loved music and high quality reproduction of it. Happy with my mid-range hi-fi at home. But then I started to listen more at work and then I tried a pair of PX200 and I realised.. wah, u mean portable audio can be so nice one ah? Then.... I tried a pair of Grado SR60s. My jaw dropped. Then, a SR80, it dropped further, then a T2 amp, almost hitting the floor, than a D2, I hear a thug, then I decided to rip at Apple Loosless, I started to taste dirt on the floor. Sigh, I dare not try WAV or FLAC at this point. I will need a 160Gb ipod if so. Well, I used to think .. aiyah please lah, how can portable audio compete with a proper $10k hifi? Other than spoiling your ears in the long run, I have to say I am have now a headphone evangelist.
