Hi, I am sure most are familiar with this. In most music videos which feature the artiste in a recording studio wearing headphones and singing, very often we see them with one or both hands pressing on the earcup(s). I always wonder if this is for show or is the mix level in the phones so low that they have to press the cups to hear properly? In which case they should tell the sound engineer to up the volume a little. For an example of what I am talking about, see the latest MV for "Home", with the Dr. Dre Beats Audio headphones prominently featured. Regards CK

I bought the K702 from an Amazon.com seller for only US$250 and shipped it to my hotel when I was in US. That's a whole lot cheaper than the local price. I think even if you factor in the shipping cost to Borderlinx/Vpost/etc it's still cheaper than the local price. Mine has 8 bumps in the headband, didn't find it uncomfortable at all. Sounds good to me. Anyway, any idea how much is a full build of y2 (including cost of y1)? I calculated the cost of the 2 above and it comes up to $33.70 + $21.15 = $54.85. You might want to update your post to include this information for the convenience of the other users. I don't know, it's not stated on the stripper and I've thrown away the box. Cost $16 from Koba, so far so good and it can strip 22-24 AWG wires nicely. Never had success with a normal wire cutter for these sizes. Never had success with the cheapo "automatic" ones too. Regards CK

Hi, Shunt mode: Notice that the signal only need to pass through R-Series and not R-pot. The pot shunts 'unwanted' signal away, thus the name. In the more traditional mode, The pot acts as a voltage divider. The signal passes through part of the pot before reaching the next stage (e.g. preamp). There's been some controversy as to which is better, but as they say, ymmv. Try both and see which you prefer. Do note that in the shunt mode, the input impedance varies according to the pot's position (i.e. how loud it is) whereas in the other mode, the input impedance is constant. Solid state = uses transistors or chips for amplification Tube = uses vacuum tubes Tube amp = umbrella term describing amps which uses vacuum tubes for amplification. Tube power = power amplifier using tubes. Usually this applies more to speaker amps than headphone amps. Most power amps does not have a volume control as this is done by the pre-amp. Power amps is what delivers the power to the speakers. Pre-amp = provides source selection and volume control. In some cases, it also has circuitry to boost the input levels to a level high enough to drive the power amp. Preamps can also be "passive", i.e. has no electronic circuitry. Integrated amp = pre and power into 1 chassis Hybrid = uses both tubes and transistors/chips (i.e. solid state) technology. Usually tubes for the pre-amplification, solid states for the final amplification. Regards CK
