Hi guys, i'm interested in starting a bulk to buy stepped attenuators from a taiwan website called my3c.net .

anyone interested? it comes with a ladder-type 24pole switch and a set of dale milspec 1% resistors that you have to solder yourself. Comes with an aluminium knob.

Comes in 10k/100k/250k flavours, priced at TWD690 each.

After conversion it'll come to about SGD35.

Shipping is TWD1000 (Around 55 bucks, conservative estimate) which will be shared out among all buyers.

It also comes with a balanced version at twice the price. The completed attenuator is also (in 10k and 250k flavours only) at TWD1680, around SGD85.

The kits are bloody cheap though. I need someone to verify this as I can't read chinese that well. You can find it at my3c.net under DIY ZONE.

I've been calling several shops. Spoke to the guy at koba electronics, he was really friendly. They sell taiwanese soldering stations, analog, at 68 bucks. Really good value i must say, i will go down and get one set.

Right now I have a GOOT CS20, it's really been a nice tool to have; finished lots of DIY projects with it. But I realise the 25W of power is way too low to desolder components.. Can't even heat up the solder wick enough for it to suck up the solder. So I was thinking I'll just jump straight to a soldering station and save up on future upgrades.

I've been eyeing the Hakko 936, but i'm not sure how much it costs locally and i cant find any info online either. Some US Sites selling it for USD75.(They're manufactured in Singapore, so theoretically they should be cheaper here, though I doubt it)

I'm more interested in the hakko936 clones because they're cheaper and usually do the job as well, but I dont think there's a place to find them in SG, is there?

So.. Anyone knows the price of a hakko936? Or any good alternative soldering station that I could buy? Most important thing I'm looking for is that it's ESD Safe, and has HIGH, HIGH, HIGH durability and reliability. Many thanks.

I've seen recommendations of weller too, but i'm mainly eyeing hakko. (If i'm not wrong it's cheaper and better, can't be sure though)

PS: I dont mind a used unit(In fact I'd prefer it because it's cheaper) but searched all over singapore's trade forums and didn't find a trace of any soldering stations. Haha.

BASS HEAVY? Cx300. LOL. Ok, sorry, bad recommendation. Don't get those, the bass is REALLY heavy on those. Like a subwoofer on max. If you're interested do borrow a pair to try though, but i'll warn you that I find it really overwhelming.

Ah yes the futuresonics, how could i forget. those are the kings of bass.

Well, if you're not looking into spending too much on an amp, i hope you haven't already bought the K701 cans, since they require powerful (and usually expensive) amps to power them nicely.

If you've gotten the cans, though, you could try a darkvoice amp. 332 should be fine, I have the 337 and it makes my K701s sing. If you do find that too expensive still, you could look into the little dot series, though I'm not too familiar with them. They are insanely popular though.

Note: Balanced amps are WAAAY expensive. Wish i had a balanced rig, but costs probably go into thousands. Heh. There ARE dual-mono single-ended amps though, such as my own DV337, which like i said gives more than enough power to make the K701s sound great.

Get the KSC75s for 25 to 30 bucks, unbeatable value. Light and portable, just make sure you try them on as the clips may not be comfortable for all.

They do. I'm not a big fan of that shop, but yes they do. if im not wrong its around 400 for d2000 and 800 for d5000.

If you're modding the headphones, do be aware that the drivers are meant to be right next to your ears. Farther away and they'll sound pretty crappy, so make sure your modded headphones puts the drivers as close to the ears as possible

K701 - low impedance, extremely, extremely low sensitivity. Do your K701s justice, get a desktop amp, not power it with a puny portable amp and expect good sound.

try audio technica es7 or something, pretty good reviews, heard its good for the price.

Try switch ZERO's DAC Opamp to a HDAM unit from Audio-gd (earth/sun/moon) or dual OP627s, i'm pretty sure it'd sound better

I own a pair of KSC75s myself, they're superb for the price. Only thing is that the clip hurts my ear after a while so it's a no go for long usage.

There are anti-rust treatment which spread tar-like material on the metal car doors which also does the same.

Nope, these are sheets of material that soundproof the car doors and stop the vibration. check car audio shops, they'll have them, though you'd have to buy a really big sheet. If you do buy a big sheet, I might get a small cut-up piece from you

Trying to fix my friend's gaming headphones, realised that the volume pot on it sucks crap. Does anyone know where i can find a replacement for this?

I have no idea of the model. The diameter of the wheel is 1.4cm.
