  1. eh, not an attempt but telling you how a trip to SE will be nice. haha

Well, it up to you la. haha

lol! No need to attempt anything by posting here I believe you got poisoned already.

I also have the same suggestion visit shops and tryout the DACs posted. Sound and Music are personal preferences. No use on rellying on posted scomments since People in SG are blessed to ble able to have shops where you can try out stuff before buying. :prettyprincess:

I actually had to return several times to a shop to REALLY get what I wanted. =)

OT: Listening to web radio with my Predator and IE8 now. "Sweet!"

My advice is, if you can help it, get the best possible stuff that you can afford. From my experience, when you are looking for that sound, price becomes a secondary issue.

Well. I will going to Jaben and SE for sure. But its only a matter of time.

Yes I got poisoned. I was telling myself that I will stop at my UM1. But now I am looking for a DAC+AMP.

Erm. I wanted to get other IEMs. But they were more expensive than what my budget could afford. So I had to settle for the UM1.

  2. Good! Get ready to buy a D3 then! I think the D10 might not suit you so much now.

Unless you going to bring all this bomb to school la! D10 plus your mp3 and earphone is a big bomb man! ( I wish me and you same sch then)

And do you have a use for the optical input then?

haha. i am thinking of the petite and the D3. I am in Ngee Ann Poly now :D 2nd year soon. I have no need for a optical anyway.

  3. ibasso D10 cobra is selling for USD275. is currently out of stock at the moment.

might retail at arnd ~$400 sgd

if you have a optical output from your source, the d10 will be a good choice. battery life is not fantastic thou, 20hrs for the amp/dac combo. op amp rollable, making the d10 very versatile in terms of sound signature.

might be tempted if i got a iriver h140 myself. :D

I dont have a optical output. so it does not matter. I just need the DAC + AMP, USB and 3.5mm in and out

  4. yup, the 5 little batteries can last you for a very long while! maybe more then 100 hrs. And really worth the money!

If you get those come together with (li battery), normally they will hit the charging life (1000 cycles) once the warranty is over, and trust me, you will have hard time finding the battery. Even you found it, it will cost some bomb!

And mostly those built in battery don't last long!

okay I have been won over to the AAA side.

I have not tried the DAC section of the D3 so I cannot comment on the sound. I think it will keep you happy though, if you don't try the Pico that is. :P

To add injury to the wound...

The Pico is really good. :icon_angel_devil:

Justin of Headamp is planing to release a PICO WITHOUT an AMP section. It will be purely a DAC. It will have several inputs and RCA outputs aside from the standard 3.5mm.

but again it would be some $$$. :moneyflies:

But for price/performance I vote for the iBasso. But again it is always better to try out both and if you feel that the pico isn't that far from the D3 based on your preference it rationalizes your buy. But if the Pico is really better based on your taste. SAVE UP and buy it.

BTW if you really don't need an amp and really stuck on a limb due to budget  you must also try the Govibes they do justice for their size. =)

 Its no use to buy something and end up buying the 1st choice because you feel you need more. I can't tell you how many times I've been hounded by my previous choices.

OT: I'm also looking for a new Desktop DAC.

HAHA. I doubt I will go for the Pico. Reason being the $$$$ factor. But I am giving GoVibes and the iBassos a chance. they are the few in my mind now.

So my current list of DAC + AMP to test will be the GoVibe Petite and the iBasso D2 primarily. :D any more to add other than Pico? The Pico is far beyond my tiny budget. :(

  5. haha you opposite from me. i cannot stand built in batteries. cause if got anything wrong with it especially after warranty will be very troublesome to replace.

well using 5AAA, the battery life of 100hrs lasts like crazily long. (if u use the energizer lithium batteries think can last 300hours)

the plus factor is that if you are afraid of running out of batteries, just carry 5AAA batteries as spare in your bag.

and pico is even greater than the D3 if you got the $$$ :D

    I require mobility.

If you thought the Pico's amp section is good... wait til you hear the DAC. I'm not helping, am I. :innocent:

Stop poisoning me a innocent person! I am dying with the poison! both of you are poisoning me!!!!

  6. why not the ibasso series that SE is carrying?

Can consider the ibasso D3, really worth the buck you paying for!

Thats some sick poison. How much does that retail for? I am kind of tight when it comes to money. I am just a 17 year old :(

  7. I have absolutely no idea about how the FubarII or III sounds like. However, from all the posts that I have sifted through in the past, it seems like the Zero DAC is one of the best "bang for buck" DACs around, since it is easily mod-able, comes with its own headphone amp, and provides a pretty decent sound.

As for the cables, I do not think that you'll need a specific RCA to 3.5mm wire. Instead, what I'd recommend is to simple purchase a pair of RCA cables from LHS Electronics@SLT and then simply buy an RCA to 3.5mm adaptor that you can find easily in any electronics stores.

I am now beginning to swing over to portable USB DACs and Amp. I have read about the GoVibe Petite. Any other DACs?

  8. as above. I am actually looking at the FubarII. Using a Westone UM1. Source will be my laptop. Player is foobar2000. Any other contenders in around the same price range? And what is the estimated price of a Fubar II with the converter from RCA to 3.5mm?

Or should I just save up more and get Fubar III? Does the amp matter much since I am using a UM1. pardon me I am still a noob.

    Thanks.

  9. new here so pardon me.

budget around $150. and IEM with good build quality. currently using Creative EP-630.

heard of Ultimate Ears' Metro.fi 2 and Westone UM1. I need some comments and recommendations as I dont know much.

going down to Jaben on thurs. I need to narrow down to those within my requirements before going down. I don't think I have much time to choose. I only have like 3 hours there.

    Thanks in advance
