    When people come to me and ask for a budget CDP to recommend I always say NAD. Sorry CA guys. :P

    NAD is well constructed with thoughtful engineering, but for some reason or another they like to use interesting DAC chips. Doesn't say anything though.

     

    Too bad the OTHER forum dun have this :doh: emoticon. Would come in real handy when replying. :grin:

    Maybe they purposely disabled tt image there cause they know it will be used ever too often :ppth:

    Do you mean 006t? (because you mentioned standard) Cause usually the 404 is paired with that, however, that is hardly the last word in power.

    You should listen to turntable. Then you'll understand why some don't mind all the trouble just to listen to one LP. Btw, I thought uber moved from PC to cdp? :think:

    i think u should get rega cdp for yur rigs....the dac is mostly versatile and most ppl used it for multimedia and pc source....

    i dont have any space for cds that y i choose a better dac as a substitute for cdp....

    In short, think bout extra investment u planning for getting a dac....powercord, interconnect and coaxial or toslink cables......$$$

    Also, don't go into digital, cause once you get used to opening foobar and just click! and access the equivalent of few hundred cds, you won't want to go back anymore :grin:

    The atmosphere was so nice. Feels so cosy.

     

    The amp there is I believe, not suitable for HD800..Dry on Mids and High..

    But in my home with my NX-03, it sounds better! (You know what that means)

    Business trip leh though salesgirls is :drool: But there's babes for this launch too. :bash: Forgotten to ask for their names. :call: The nice lady with permed hair. Help me to ask when you're there. :grin:

    Nvr say earlier :grin: Interesting they had so many of of them there considering the small numbers.

     

    The launch was really excellent. Full marks for the effort, cool is an understatement. The headphone was excellent too.

     

    1. Very neutral in tonality. Some might find it cold, but I thought it was excellent.

    2. Somewhat lacking in deep bass and high extension, though that is probably due to the amp.

    3. Comfort was superb, cups were large and comfy.

    4. Soundstage accurate, but not wide.

    5. Speed seemed a bit lacking, the can seem to be struggling with fast piano passages. This though might again be due to the amp.

     

    Overall will give it 8/10. It is an excellent can, but... stax is still better :grin:

    X2 And the price, from what I heard is pretty reasonable too. Ultrasone used it in the recent Hifi show in Germany and it was said to be a match made in Heaven. It should have no problem driving the HD800 from the look of it.

    Um but the ultrasones were really quite efficient headphones, so that statement was probably one with respect to tonality or something. Still the looks of that thing is formidable.
