  1. hey..burger...how come so much time to listen to music? aren't you busy with your books and err...other extra-curricular activities?

It's the holidays! Since end Nov. School starting again on Monday though.

Either that or the babes at NTU really dig music!

    :innocent:

    :b2t

    Just got this yesterday.

@Kachui: They're coming to Singapore in March, interested in going for their concert? ^_^

  2. hey hey, like to ask.

DAC is not important right? if getting normal CDP its connecting to an amp instead of DAC? DAC is only important for CD transport or any other form of transport (Wadia, PC)?

then.. you guys don't listen to songs from PC? only from CDP?

This should answer most, if not all, of your questions.

  3. Zana Deux... I must try one with my AD2000 one day! I heard that they have fantastic synergy together.

Wah, so many electrostats coming out, for once I'm glad I'm broke so I can resist the poison. :P

Got to agree with you on both counts. I want to hear this fabled AD2000+Zana Deux combo.

I am. That's why my PS1, RS1 and HF2 will stay with me. Whether I use them with the HD250 or Maverick D1, they sound great and different enough from the electrostats to justify keeping them

The other Grados/Alessandro will have to go though to free up some cash...

You're not completely lost yet... :P

  4. I might...

Call or PM me if you're interested...we can work something out. Haven't decided if I want to keep it to drive the K1000 in future or forget the K1000 altogether.

Or I may just keep it for my Grados with a TT - a truly analog rig... :pose:

But the cost of setting up 2 rigs is pretty prohibitive... :terrified:

Thanks for the offer, but I am hardly in a position to make that kind of purchase any time soon. Thought you were a hardcore Grado fan?

  5. :shocking:

I've been gone 3 weeks and another major upate on rigs. Real itchy to try 'em out.

Anyway, Happy new Year Guys!!! :holiday:

    Welcome back!

Jojo my friend, you've no idea... :P

I've literally joined the dark side...

You too? Are you going to offload the HD250? :P

I've been lurking around for a while. Just added a new toy to my rig and thought I might as well actively participate in the forums.

Not really the real dark. But no Ortho love in here?

    Very nice cans!

    Happy New Year! :))

    It's GORGEOUS. :lust:

  6. I must say that the deal Kidult got on his amp is, perhaps, one of a kind? I, too, was surprised at the price it was listed at and further, it was listed for sometime with no buyer. I guess it was meant to be Kidult's... :P

Or rather he was "enlightened" at just the right time :D (I admit I am biased towards electrostats; Staxheads FTW!)

Nonetherless, any of the following would be a good acquisition:

    SRM1/MKII (solid state)

    T1 (tube)

    T1S (tube with balanced inputs)

T1W (tube with balanced inputs, preamp function & variable bias)

More expensive as it goes down the list.

The SRM1/MKII is generally easier to find and is a cheaper option as well. It performs respectably too.

Of course, the best (2nd wise) would be to find a 717, which generally costs between US$1,200 - US$1,500, based on recent transactions online.

If all fails, an 007t is also not bad, though would not cheap (still cheaper than a 717).

This is a 4 tube amp, power should be more than sufficient, if using with any of the Stax earspeakers other than the O2. But it does not mean it can't power the O2, it can, like the the T1. However, if you listen to the O2 with the 717 or any more powerful stax amp then you will feel that it can do with more power than what the 007 or T1 can offer. Then again, this is only if you are very very particular. Nonetheless, with the other earspeakers, the 007 and T1 can be very musical so long as you are not a headbanger or half deaf.

Thanks for all the pointers. The T1+404LE was sounding very very nice indeed. But poor recordings are more obvious than ever on Stax.
