Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and light enough to carry in a shirt pocket, the microStreamer was designed with portability in mind. The microStreamer is a USB connected and powered, ultra high-performance external sound card for computers, tablets, smart-phones or any compliant host. Dual purpose built, it incorporates both a high–performance headphone amplifier with an analog volume control that allows you to connect the microStreamer between your computer and headphones; and a fixed-level, low impedance 2.25V line output that allows you to connect between your computer and home stereo, other entertainment system or to powered loudspeakers.
Housed in an aluminum enclosure precision-machined from solid billets, the durable and beautiful microStreamer is modern, sleek and compact. It is simple to use and provides a level of improvement in sound quality that must be heard to be believed. To improve your computers’ sound quality, the microsStreamer takes over the job of processing the digital music stream from the computer - a task critical for producing great sound. Do not be fooled by its modest cost or small size: the microStreamer’s ability to transform the sound of your computer, smart phone or tablet’s music files or streaming audio into a state of the art musical experience will make a believer out of even the most critical listener.
As with other HRT products, the set up and operation of the microStreamer is super easy: simply use the included USB cable and hook the input of the microStreamer into any USB port on the host computer, smart phone or tablet and select it as the default outpost device. Now you are ready to experience your music with the best sound possible.
Operating jitter-free via the use of its high-performance asynchronous USB transceiver, the microStreamer, when plugged in, automatically performs an ‘electronic handshake’ with the computer or other host and tells it that the microStreamer is to get all audio signals sent to it instead of the Digital-to-Analog converter (DAC) that is built into the computer, and that‘s it! To enjoy the music in your home entertainment system optimally, connect the microStreamer’s fixed output jack* to any available line-level analog input on your integrated amplifier, preamp, receiver, or powered loudspeakers. Alternatively, connect your favorite headphones to microstreamer’s variable output port.
Volume control of microStreamer’s OCL (output capacitor-less) headphone amplifier is accomplished by using the digital ‘slide’ control on the host computer’s music playback software to adjust microStreamers’s internal analog volume attenuator. This clever analogue attenuation arrangement allows the full audio quality of the microStreamer to remain pure, clean and full-ranged, avoiding the known sonic degradation of digital attenuators.
With its jitter-free asynchronous interface, combined with processing power that allows native-resolution (no up-sampling) playback of digital music data up to a maximum of 24-bit/96k material, the microStreamer will transform your computer, tablet, or Smartphone into a better-than-CD quality source. Utilizing native Audio Class 1.0 drivers (present in all modern PC, Mac & Linux computers) there are no extra drivers or software to install.
LED indicators on the side of the microStreamer’s aluminum housing show the current sample rate (32k, 44k1, 48k, 88k2 & 96k), as well as the state of its built-in mute circuit; you will always know at a glance your systems operating mode. As with other HRT products, as firmware improvements become available, HRT's UpStream utility allows the microStreamer to be updated right from the computer's desktop in a matter of seconds.

The new Reference 01 Series. Future Proof
The UD-H01 is a dual digital/analogue converter containing two BurrBrown® DAC chipsets (Type 1795) and a Tenor® USB Audio Class 2 Interface. Thanks to the highquality nature of these components, digital audio data from an external PC is converted to an analogue signal in high resolution Hi-Fi quality using up to 32 bit, 192 kHz asynchronous conversion technology. The resulting analogue signal can be sent to either a set of active loudspeakers or to an external amplifier. The UD-H01 is supplied with both balanced and unbalanced audio output connectors and a headphone connector complete with separate volume control. Two audio inputs (digital RCA and optical) allow connecting additional sources i.e. CD or DVD player.

Design technology
The Apollo-R is the result of many years of innovation, advanced software development and elegant engineering solutions researched by our highly skilled team of engineers and designers. It took the completion of two of our multi award winning products, the flagship Isis CD player and the Rega DAC to pave the way for a unique product we feel encapsulates everything the new Apollo-R should be.
Design history
The original Apollo CD player launched in 2005. It was a huge success selling approaching 20,000 units worldwide. The Apollo was a unique player featuring Rega’s own software and control system ensuring no other manufacturers player could sound the same. This key element is carried forward and improved into Apollo-R.
Analogue & digital outputs
Development of the analogue, digital and control domains ensured direct improvements of both analogue and digital outputs making the Apollo-R a perfect partner for the Rega Brio-R amplifier and an ideal ‘CD format’ front-end for the Rega DAC. The Apollo-R internal circuitry has also been improved by tightening the PCB layout.
Compact case design
Apollo-R is a top loading design housed in a custom compact aluminium case matching the Rega DAC and Brio-R amplifier. The Apollo-R is available in both black or satin silver finish.
Dedicated CD mini system remote control
A new dedicated CD remote handset is supplied as standard which also has the advantage of Rega amplifier functionality .
Digital to analogue conversion
The DAC and the output amplifier of the Apollo-R have been enhanced using the Wolfson WM8742 digital to analogue converter, the same integrated circuit found in the Rega DAC.
Power supplies
The ‘digital’ power supplies feeding the CD processor, optical block, laser diode amplifier and slicer have been enhanced. This is achieved by using the same high performance low noise power supplies found in the same location within the Isis CD player. This vastly improves the playability, error correction and the ‘inner core’ processing of the digital CD ‘spinner’ part of the Apollo-R.
Output amplifier
The discrete output amplifier has been tweaked to reduce the overall THD from typically 0.005% to 0.0025%, whilst at the same time improving the overall sound quality of the output amplifier.
User interface
We have improved the user interface control by using a dedicated display microprocessor, which eases the workload on the main control processors giving an improvement in the control code stability, usability and improved speed of initialisation of the disc being played which now matches that of the Isis CD player.

The Rega DAC is a 16/20/24-bit at 32kHz to 192kHz digital to analogue converter incorporating an enhanced version of the Rega designed circuit. Developed to be simple to set up and use, the Rega DAC is designed to optimise performance from any two channel PCM digital audio source such as a CD player PC or streaming device.
With the PC/Laptop and MAC now widely accepted as creditable mediums for storing and streaming music. The use of high quality lossless files such as WAV, FLAC and ALAC offer performance through the DAC equal to and in some cases better than red book CD.
Housed in a custom aluminium and steel case and boasting a pair of Wolfson DAC IC's, 5 user selectable digital filters, two isolated Co-axial inputs, two Toslink SPDIF inputs and an isolated USB input. The Rega DAC is designed and engineered to perform way above its class.
Technology
The input stage comprises a Wolfson digital receiver with a high stability low jitter clock. The receiver and PLL have their own dedicated power supplies. The DAC stage comprises of a pair of parallel-connected Wolfson WM8742 DAC's, which are driven via a buffer stage, which ensures the integrity of the data being fed to the DAC IC's similar to the arrangement used in the Isis (Rega's refrerence CD player). Great care has been taken to remove noise generated by the PC and other input sources. During development this was identified as a major drawback with many DAC's on the market today.
The output amplifier employs a discrete differential multiple feedback filter and output amplifier, with a high cut-off frequency for use with higher sample rates. We decided not to use a sample rate converter and process the data at the incoming sample rate which keeps the signal processing to a minimum. Jitter was minimised by synchronously clocking the digital data with our receiver PLL (removing any jitter from the input signal).
All the capacitors associated with the analogue signal path are Nichicon FG bypassed with MMK polyester capacitors, and low impedance conductive polymer capacitors are used for DAC decoupling. The power supply utilizes a toroidal transformer, fast rectifier diodes and again Nichicon FG capacitors. There is a power supply for the control microcontroller, separate from the digital & analogue audio stages. Special attention being paid to the inter IC control signals ensuring the control data noise is kept to a minimum.

24/96 Capable, Asynchronus USB DAC / Headphone Amplifier
The HRT HeadStreamer is a USB-powered, asynchronous-transfer, 24/96-capable outboard Sound Card/DAC for PCs or MACs that incorporates a 130 milliwatt headphone amplifier that is accessed via a front-panel stereo 1/8" mini-jack output. Which in non-geek speak means it is a plug and play headphone amp that will sound great streaming music from your computer.
Analog volume control
The HeadStreamer incorporates a digitally-controlled, fully analog built-in attenuator that is controlled by the computer's overall (digital) volume control. It is optimized for maximum output with (most portable modern) headphones that have an impedance of about 100 ohms or less, but it will happily play with higher-impedance phones such as Sennheiser 580 or 600, though with a bit less output. This is a great solution for those wanting a small, super-clean dedicated headphone amp for use on computer desk systems, or to take with you for use with a laptop or net-book computer when traveling.
Quiet operation
The HeadStreamer 24/96 USB DAC/Headphone Amplifier provides a completely isolated path between the computer and your headphones. No more audio contamination by the computer's spinning hard disks, fans and processors; your music will always sound its best. There are no external power supplies to worry about because the HeadStreamer gets its power from the USB connection while completely regenerating power for all its internal circuitry using a sophisticated set of proprietary circuits.

High quality screw-on banana plugs that will accept 10~18 AWG wire are included. The ASTA-50X2 also doubles as a high fidelity headphone amplifier that will drive any headphone easily, and delivers colossal sound stage from 20-20,000 Hz with a signal-to-noise ratio of 103 dB (A-weighted). The 1/4" stereo jack simplifies connection of larger home and studio style headphones. An adapter is also provided so smaller 3.5 mm personal-style headphones can be used.
