Just wondering whether they can under-declare the value coz if i m not mistaken anything coming into singapore thats above SGD 400 will be taxed with 7% GST!!!

Not too bad shipping overseas by yourself, considering that the local store might just take about forever to ship your stuff back. There's a forummer here who waited months just for his zero dac to come back from Jaben. Sure, IEMs can't be compared to that, due to the size and weight, but doesn't it go to show the mindset of the store? Of course, if someone could attest against that, it'd be great, but if not, I'd say just go for the set overseas.

 

And another thing to note. Since you're getting it first hand at about $100 off, which would make it close to $500 (do correct me if this isn't the price right now), you'll have to pay for GST when it hits the shores of Singapore, since it's over $400. This could be easily avoided by having the seller under declare the cost of the stuff, but since you're getting it from Amazon.. I think it's wishful thinking.

YEAH the $400 tingy is really a big turn off..... and i doubt they would even bother to underdeclare -.- But i just cant seem to trust other sellers lol.... circuit city? hahaha

Spend less on the earphones, as others have said, and try going for a better player as well.

While I haven't tried the iPods much, they've always struck me as performing better in looks than sound (unless you're using a LOD + amp).

Whats a LOD?? Sorry for asking this supposedly noob qns Anyway would coupling a mid level IEM and a amp that sync well with it be sufficient? And roughly how big are apple loseless audio files? Coz my player is only a small 8gb itouch :/

Then again, my player is a 8gb ipod touch 1st gen. I've heard that reason for their popularity is prob due to it being fashionable and stylist and that their music output quality is actually pretty average.

So would a high end IEM like the um2 or superfi 5pro actually be an overkill for the ipod? In the sense that it is being under-utilised and such. Sorry for asking so much but 400 is still a pretty big sum to me

As i said, my music files are mostly in 320 kbps. Any idea whether this quality is sufficient to utilise the um2 or superfi5pro? I'm actually more inclined towards these 2 because of their built and quality! Shall try the atrios or klipsch if i drop by jaben soon

Went down to Jaben ytd to try out the um2, superfi pro, and the bijous. The amp + bijou bundle was very attractive but i wasn't too sure of bijou's durability as i've heard and read on this forum about how it spoils easily. The um2 and superfi pro were both fantastic, but the bijou with the amp bundle fared just slightly worse than those 2(IMO) but the price gap is HUGE!

So any suggestions? My music files are not in loseless format, mostly in 320kbps (file size ard 7-10mb). Is this sufficient enough to utilise the driver's inside the um2 or superfi pro? or would a bijou with amp suffice? Any advise?

From jazz to country to pop to rock to metal, even instrumental! lol
