  2. Hi tbln,

    I don't think I will wait until June, cause prefer the ipod-ish one. ; - )

If anyone is interested in the black version, pl. post or pm tbln to make the arrangements.

    Thanks

For the white ipod-ish E4C, I'll probably be ordering probably from beachaudio (checking to see if my friend in US can help) or from earphonesolutions.com, or from Toddthevinyljunkie who is offering a price match as well. http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread....0&highlight=E4C

Anyway, by the looks of it, US$182 is the best deal with or without bulk order, but there's possible slight savings in shipping if anyone is keen.

Revised list for White E4C shared shipping order ;-)

  3. Hi tbln,

Hey, great that you spotted that US$199 deal. I'm even more tempted now. ; - ) I'm quite surprised at the difference between the MRSP and the offers by the online stores. I guess if we get a few buyers, we can just group buy from whoever offers the best price. Perhaps Todd may be able to even better the offer in view of the competition.

The headroom offer is at http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?topicI...ctID=0020330004

You have to click on "Add to Cart" to see the special price.

idkfa, you can do your sums and decide. If we can get a good bulk discount, shipping from Spore to Tokyo is not that expensive, perhaps?

    Cheers!

  4. Hi All,

The new Shure E4C is officially launching on 16 May.

I emailed Todd from Toddthevinyljunkie.com and he said that he will be stocking the new E4C soon and can give me a bulk discount after I give an indication on the number of orders.

The launching price on Shure.com is US$299. So, my rough guess is if Todd gives his usual 10% off, plus I guess another 5% off (for bulk order) may come up to US$254 (S$418) plus roughly S$8 for shipping (depends on number of persons) = S$426.

If you are seriously interested, let me know by Monday 16 May so I can consolidate the rough numbers.

If you need something else from Toddthevinyljunkie.com, can also tompang to share shipping costs.

    Cheers!

  5. Thanks Blues. That's reassuring. happy.gif

I had tried the usual shops at Funan like Alan Photo, BestCam, John 3:16, but they didn't have. Alan Photo said their Sim Lim branch had the battery but around $70 (dunno if original or compatible). I paid $50 for the battery from Song Bros, and thought the higher capacity might be a bonus compared to paying $20 more for original at 530mAH if I chase down the Panasonic distributors.

Problem was that this Panasonic camera model doesn't seem to be popular here, even its earlier model SV-AS10. A write-up of the AS30 is at http://www.photokina-show.com/news/panason...-SV-AS3_en.html

    Cheers!

  6. Hi All,

Am clueless about cameras so hoping to tap the experience of the many digital camera/electronics experts in this forum.

I just bought a Panasonic D-snap SV-AS30 digital camera from Japan. Not the best photo quality but suits me because of its small size and revolving lens.

The original battery is rated 3.7 volts and 530mAH. I've been wanting to buy a spare battery, and at Funan, asked Song Brothers and they showed me what they claimed was a compatible batter, that was rated 3.7 volts and 1500mAH. So, hand ichy, I decided to buy it.

Now, I'm wondering whether it was a mistake. The battery fits the camera battery compartment/connectors (but now I realize is meant for Panasonic Camcorders), but seems to work fine when I switch on the camera. But would the fact that it is 1500mAH instead of 530mAH mean that I am slowly frying my digital camera or just that I'll get a longer usage before having to recharge?

Any ideas would be truly appreciated!

    Cheers!

  7. This thread is quite funny!!! Very reminicent of the "$13.50 to cut 2 holes" saga!

Anyway, ght's maths is a bit off. Based on current exchange rates, Av98m's flat pads cost S$50 per pair, plus about S$2 for postage per pair after sharing postage.

Still not cheap compared to the S$7 Senn yellow pads (or even the "$13.50 to cut two holes" variety), but for some of us, its because our Grados are worth it! (to borrow the tag line from L'Oreal shampoo ad). biggrin.gif Not to mention our ears feel great and are less likely to be accidentally stained with black dye.

Finally, for the uninitiated, good manners suggest that one could sometimes offer frank/practical/kangtow advice to someone before he/she makes a purchase, but otherwise, one should always refrain from criticising the purchase after it has taken place as 1) the buyer might then feel less than previously satisfied with his purchase, and 2) such remarks may sometimes appear inflamatory and begat the appropriate response.

By the way, although no less relevant when applied to others, the above advice is exponentially beneficial when applied in relation to purchases by girlfriend/spouse/lady boss/in-laws/etc. innocent.gif

  8. Check out the companies like Idealsound (for Etymotics and Shure earphones), toddthevinyljunkie.com (great service, reliable), Headphone.com, Meier Audio - http://home.t-online.de/home/meier-audio/. They are all Head-fi.org sponsers and know their stuff. Todd and Headphone.com also have generous 30 day no questions asked return policies. The links are all on www.head-fi.org

If you are more adventurous, there's always someone selling the previous month's "flavour of the month" headphone or amplifier on Head-fi's classified ads. But obviously there are risks, so best to buy from someone with good feedback and been active in Head-fi for some time. Shipping from the US to Singapore works out to be between US$20-25 via US Postal Service for decent sized headphones and stuff. You can ask around this forum for people to share shipping costs.

You can also contact Mackie from our forum if interested in Beyer headphones. headphone.gif

  9. Hi N@z,

How would you rate the Super Dual against the Porta Corda II, apart from the X-feed which you mentioned? Noticed that a few Super Duals and Supermini V6s popping up in the head-fi for sale ads.

I just bought the PocketDock by SendStation which gives me a neat Audio Line Out and firewire line out, so just need a pocket amp to pair with my ipod. Alas, my old SuperMiniV3 died-ed on me some time ago.

    Cheers!

  10. Hi,

Ever see those black super futuristic chairs in movies and boardrooms,

you've probably been looking at the Aeron Chair from Herman Miller.

    http://www.hermanmiller.com/CDA/SSA/Produc...c440-p8,00.html

You can also try it out at X-tra Designs at Park Mall or B1 of Takashimaya.

I've owned one for a couple of years and love it, still good as new.

Some friends of mine are exploring a bulk order for either the Aeron or the Leap Chair from Steelcase.

The Leap Chair is apparently even more ergonormically superior to the Aeron Chair, though it is not as famous or sexy looking. I recently tried it out and was rather impressed.

If you are interested, you might want to check out the Steelcase website, or try out the chair at the Steelcase Showroom at

    Steelcase Office Solutions Pte Ltd

    20 Cross Street

    Singapore   048422

    Singapore

    Phone: +6567385225

    Fax: +6567385775

    Email: gfoo@steelcase.com.sg

    http://www.steelcase.com/servlet/ProductSe...mance&LINE_ID=6

The price? Either of the chairs will cost between S$1000-1500, not sure exactly yet, but final price is dependent on number of consolidated orders.

The Aeron chair offers a 12 year warranty, whilst the Leap Chair offers a warranty between 5 to 15 years, depending on which part of the chair.

Let me know by pm if you are interested in either. My friends haven't decided which chair to go for, so the pricing may be the deciding factor if we can get a large order.

    Cheers!

  11. Another vote for the MX500. Cheap, Light, no microphonics/occlusion, great sound, robust. Whether it stays in your ear depends on the level of rigourous activity and the shape of your ear. laugh.gif

The E2s are also quite good in sound, isolation, plus the wrap-around ear plus chord tightener is quite useful for keeping the phones in place. But the occlusion effect can be annoying. Most tend to use the foamies for better fit, isolation, sound instead of the silicon tips, but if you're using them for running, be prepared to change them really frequently.

If you want to impress girls in the gym, the B&O A8s are it. But not for serious listening. whistling.gif
