  2. I have tons to say as well..........but I'm gonna refrain from doing so. Hoping everyone's gonna think of me as a SAINT if I keep peaceful within the forums.
  3. I'll cut this short. Just because one is poor it doesn't give that person an excuse to commit a crime, but it gives u the right to sample music at ur own convenience? And U've become a saint overnight just becoz u've stopped using p2p programs, giving u further rights to condemn the poor people who are still doing it?
  4. Adhoc, in the eyes of the law, as long as ur caught downloading from an "illegal" source such as using p2p (peer2peer) programs, it dosent matter what ur intentions are. I've got frens who were caught and fine a substantial amount of money so I noe roughly how it goes. I think by using MURDER as an example is carrying the line too far. Such comparisons cannot be justified. Don't tell me PIRACY cases get trial-ed in high/supreme courts. Distract people from the entire issue? Have u even read the whole thread? I don't think someone who has commited a piracy act should come and whine about how pissed he is about PIRACY and the people who support it. And yeah u ppl are audiophiles, and dun listen to lousy formats. I dun claim to be an audiophile but I listen to cds/LPs and don't download mp3s. But still I like the idea of PIRACY. It is here to stay for the poor, not the audiophile rich fugs.
  5. Dude, taking something and putting it back later is no excuse. Sampling something from an official website is obviously legal. But U mentioned u used p2p programs as well ? Hey do u even have the slightest idea what ur toking about?
  6. Retract ur previous statement? Why the hell would u wanna refer to the general "stealing" public as cheapskates when u urself used to sample music? Sure you're not ripping off people's hardwork now. I'm not mocking u for believing in that. I'm just puzzled by the fact u can actually whine at ppl "stealing" when u used to do that urself.
  7. Actually for sampling purposes I go to official webbies, other than that....hmm...can't think of anything else close to piracy... You've to realise, not everyone believes in piracy or is a cheapskate. As I've said before, just because one is poor doesn't give the person the right to steal. Anyways apology accepted. "Of course what I meant by that is that if you download without paying and not getting the song from a legal source. I don't at all. Maybe I might download now and then to sample songs, even then it's from official webbys and if last resort, p2p but I'll delete after a couple of tries. I think it's totally wrong and definetly(I think) the reason why the music industry in singapore is suffering. So many shops have closed down, sigh. It's gotten to the point where if you support original stuff you get ridiculed. It really pisses me off how cheapskate some people can be. To think that cd prices in singapore are probably the cheapest in the world. " Just in case ur BLIND or have "short term memory" loss, I've cut and paste the above for reference. U said clearly u use p2p and U'll delete after a couple of tries and it pisses u off how cheapskate some people will be. Mr.Anti-Piracy, I hope u take a close look at urself and do some real soul-searching before u start such whining threads about people being cheapskate and stuff.
  8. Lekguan, Whether software, cds, dvds, vcds are worth it or not to buy as originals is not the point im trying to derive at. What I'm trying to pull through to some ppl's thick brains is that the poor might not be able to afford it. I buy lotsa dvds and cds and i find them to be worth all the while coz of the superior quality as u may have already mentioned. As for feeding SS groups....hmm.....don't we feed money to legitimate organisations as well?
  9. U make it sound as if the poor ppl have got something against u. U make it sound as if ur a big fan of anti-piracy. Good on ya mate. If so, pls dun even download mp3s for sampling purposes becoz thats already considered stealing in the eyes of the law, irregardless or whether u keep or delete them. Lets do a simple test by taking a look at some of the stuffs u use daily. 1. The OS (operating system) ur using. Issit a legitimate copy that you bought? Or issit a pirated one or an original u borrowed off a fren. Allow me to remind u as long as the copy is not urs, its not legitimate. 2. Common software like MS OFFICE. Oh pls don't tell me u bought the original one for a few hundred bucks. 3. You being a young singaporean, havent u bought any pirated vcds or dvds at all? 4. As I've stated above, mp3s u've downloaded off the net via p2p. If any of these is fulfilled. You have already violated piracy laws. So go take a piss urself instead of getting pissed by poor ppl who support piracy. Of coz u might just be one of those Mr.Nice kinda guy who does everything strictly abiding by the law. If thats the case then...........i'll APOLOGISE.
  10. Yeah, starving myself in order to get my music when i was in my younger days was dumb. Piracy in the 1st place.....was catered to the poorer ppl anyway. Which rich b*stard would care about purchasing pirated stuffs or download media files from the net? I believe everyone in this forum has or plan to download some kinda "PIRATED" file from the net. If we can break the rules for our own benefit, y can't we break em for the poorer ppl? I'm not really a firm believer of the law anyway (although I'm taking a few goddamn law modules now), it does have its flaws and wrongs at times. Agree with me or not, PIRACY is here to stay, for now at least.
  11. 200+ albums and eerr about 400 singles (singles are cool coz of different remixes), 30 LPs although I dun have a turntable at the moment, LOL.
  12. To some ppl PIRACY is crap, illegal, un-ethical, whatever. To me PIRACY helps poor people out to a certain extent. Like I mentioned earlier on I wouldn't have had to starve during my secondary school days to buy albums if there were mp3s then. Back then, forking out money for 1-2 albums a week wasn't a joke. IMHO, retailers, shops, distributors come and go. Every business has a lifespan. Let's just try to look at PIRACY from a poor man's shoes shall we? For once at least.
  13. Are u sure it takes 10 bucks to produce and release a CD? Im not in the music making industry but I noe for certain their cost price issent 10 bucks, i doubt its even 5 bucks. U might have read articles about researches and stuff, and believe the music industry would fall if piracy continues. The only way to shut off piracy is to ultimately lower their original retailing prices. And trust me on one thing, big recording companies would not collapse just because of a few mp3s floating around. Mp3s are a cheap alternative for young people out there. I dun see a reason y we should try to take that away from them. During my younger days I had to save and starve just so that I can get my favourite depeche mode albums. As far as Im concern, sharing files of any genre issen't a sin.
  14. I personally dun think sharing media files is wrong. Nothing's fair in this world...............better the big companies suffer than us ( consumers ).
