  1. Headamp Gilmore Dynamic Headphone Amplifier V2 Class A amp of the Gilmore dynamic variety (Dynalo) Fully discrete headphone amplifier. Features dual headphone jacks, RCA preamp outputs, and TWO sets of RCA inputs. There is an additional lineout that I asked Justin to include but have since disabled it. This unit is an amazing sounding headphone amp and preamp. SOLD!
  2. Yeap graduated and working already.
  3. Been to Rameish's meet which predates SGheadphones. I think the few people in attendance were WatCult, Firefox, ablaze, another guy whom I cant remember. Blues who organised but overslept and tried to come but couldn't cause he doesn't have caller-id. Loser!! I miss those meets especially the one in SP. Headphonecrazy, barradio, rameish and Mackie had some crazy gears at that time... I still hang around sometimes but seldom listen to headphones now that I listen to speakers.
  4. I have a Sony V6 for sale if you are interested. Do send me a PM.
  5. Some of my panoramic pictures taken with digital camera and stitched. 6. With an amp(SRD-X) of around US$150 from ebay, you can approach near Orpheus levels (80%) at below S$600. If this is not good value, I wonder what is. So get your Stax now!
  7. What is 50% volume? 50% of what? 50% of my amp driving um1 will make anyone deaf instantly. 100% of ipod nano driving AKG 501 you can't even hear anything much. The only way to judge volume is by decibels which can be measured by an SPL meter. They can be found in SLT i think. Accepted standards for recommended permissible exposure time 85 db 8 hours 88 dB 4 hours 91 db 2 hours 94 db 1 hour http://www.dangerousdecibels.org/hearingloss.cfm
  8. Any Stax amp/transformer with 5 pin pro bias sockets except for the Srd-4. Current ones include SRM 252, 313 etc. There are loads of older amps available on ebay for rather cheap price as well.
  9. I have a pair of Stax SR-303 earspeakers for sale. Age about 1 year 4 months in very good condition. Looking for S$350. PM or SMS me at 90994850. Thanks!
  10. Mustafa used to sell them but I don't know if they still do. Brand new is around $150. I bought a 2nd hand V6 from this forum few months back. You might want to do a search in the classified sections. I'm sure there'll be quite a few in headfi as well.
  11. For $150 and less, Sony V6 will be another choice. It isolates and widely used by professionals for recording.
  12. laukinkon, the 3m bumpon looks interesting. where can they be bought?
  13. For detailed and analytical sound, you can't beat a Gilmore design. Our own moderator Absolute0 has a headamp GS-1 for sale. Just right smack at 1k. http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=203344
  14. 3 earphones/headphones? Man you are just starting out! Welcome to the dark side.
  15. Make sure to remove any water remnants in the stem of the flange. I killed a pair of filters that way when I was to eager to listen after washing.
  16. Probably one of the more hardcore pc audio guys around. Below is my normal setup. Hardware: PC running a RME DIGI96/8 PAD soundcard -> Belden 1695A with Canare RCAP ->Ack! dAck! 1 -> amp Software: Win XP SP2 Latest foobar2000 with ASIO output. CDs are extracted with EAC Compression consists of mostly lossless. FLAC, wavpack and monkey's audio are the top three contenders. For lossy compression, it would be .ogg mostly. Good luck to your setup!
  17. i believe the older Stax amp series ie 717 and 313 can easily change the voltage input. My 313 is switched from 100V to 240V. Oh and yahoo.jp auctions has good prices sometimes. Ended. http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h41084460 24 hours left. http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m34181584
  18. Thanks all esp Stereo. Went to your shop before but didn't introduced myself. Zephyron, nice to meet you at Sir Barradio's office. A rather apt name.
  19. Oh I think the changing of voltage is much more difficult compared to the older ones. Newer ones have the same amp section but prettier looks and a harder to mod PS.
  20. Well I'm sure Pricejapan can only provide you the japan voltage one. Same with audiocubes. But I think EIFL can send a 230V one.
  21. I don't know where in Japan can you get a Stax. I did ask my friend to get one for me but she didn't manage to find a shop selling one. But I do know where to get them online. I hope you know that they need special amps as well. Pricejapan.com is cheap but not too sure about the warranty issues. http://www.eifl.co.jp/ is slightly more expensive but more trustable. Sometimes ebay has them shipped from Japan as well. Have no knowledge of them. Kingsley does carry the Omega II but they do not have it in stock. You've got to ask them to bring it in. If you manage to do so, let me know too as I am curious about the Omega II as well. BTW I wasn't exactly blown away by the Orpheus as well. It just gets much closer to perfection than the other Staxes I tried. However, it will probably blow most people's mind away.
  22. I bet it uses dynamic drivers instead of the conventional amature drivers used in normal iems.
  23. I wonder where one can hear a koss and the 2 sennheiser electrostatics. The Stax electrostatic fan is curious!
