i had the same problem, music by design can change the whole cable [from headphones to mini plug] for a reasonable price, the new cable is more flexible than the original also, less prone to twist...

I hv a Grado SR-60 in which i hv used for the past two years. recently, the right side of the phones has no sound intermittently or the cable is of a certain position... has anyone got tis problem before and how to solve it ? will Grado replace the cable for u and how much it cost ? thanx a million..

Would like to know which is the best encoding comparing the various formats, mp3, ogg, aac..etc that will give the best results.

When I use the shareware program "FreeRIP" to rip from my CDs, I notice there are a few modes that I could select; shld I choose VBR,ABR , CBR

Also, is it that I shld choose the highest bitrate to get the best results for either mp3 or ogg ?

just would like to know if anyone tried playing .wav with H3xxx after the new firmware update ?

Can I just drag & drop the .wav files frm the CD or must them be exact using software ?

Dude, just make sure you call and ask for an audition before you go down, to make sure that they are open. they're very nice people, I sat on their sofa and listened to the sr80s for nearly 45 minutes and I was never disturbed the whole time.

Yes they are but like all things do sound better with an amp. However it also depends on what portable you have. The only sure way is to demo it at Music By Design with your portable.

hehee.. not sure if u allow me to audition ur Grado somedays when u free, coz I went to MBD afew times (yesterday at 4pm) and the door is locked *sob*.. I read frm tis thread tat the salesman not letting audition ?.. scare scare later kanna scold if neber buy....

if not, can advise roughly wat time MBD is open?

I love to convert people. The Naf Naf and wood Grado RA-1 sound identical! Well except for the better balance in the Naf Naf at low volumes. In all honesty, I prefer the Grado RA-1 for both Senn HD-600 and Grado cans. Very underated amp IMO. Did not try the 650 with the Headsave Transit/Tempo unit.

The Supermicro is powered by an AAA battery, kenshinz.

 

Anyway I second Mackie's recommendations. Though the PX200 might be worth a try as well. The HD497 and SR80 don't seem very portable.
