Problem with ER4S

Recommended Posts

Guys,

I am having problem with my ER4S. The volume on the left side is suddenly very low, almost inaudible.

I tried to twist and turn the cable just in case the cable snapped internally, but there was no difference in volume throughout.

Any idea?

How do I get it fixed? I got it from Jaben about 2-3 years back.

Thanks

Haha, sounds like a blocked filter.

You checked that?

Or maybe you could try to clean out your ears.. try going into the shower, dip your head to one side, fill it with water, wait for awhile, then rinse it out.

Repeat 2-3 times until wax softens, then if there are still residue wax left, try to scoop it out.

Did a visual check on the filter, it looked fine. I'll try to change it with the tool that comes with it when I get home.

As with my ear, I also tried putting the BLUE plug on my RIGHT ear. Same result.

Email Etymotic and Jaben regarding the problems.

My US set, they(Etymotic) allow me to send it to back to them for free repair as I'm still under warranty.

[Edit] Any cracks near the tube? Be it hairline etc.

Can I find out how much it cost you to ship the set (or just the earphones themselves?) back to the States?

Bought a set from Amazon because of immediate budget constraints.

I send in just the earphones.

If I still remember correctly, it cost me 50 bucks to send it over. But of course there are other cheaper option but I prefer to use a service that can be tracked down and quick. :D

I will list down the steps for sending over.

1) Email Etymotic of the problem and where you bought it

2) Etymotic will reply you with their address and your RMA number (To be written down on a piece of paper with your SG address and send it over together with your earphones)

3) Go Singpost and chose your sending method

4) Wait for around 1-2weeks :smoke:

5) A strange package arrive at your doorstep

6) Enjoy

BTW Etymotic will ship it back to you for free.

I'm really lucky as I send it in just a few days before my warranty expire.

radioactive28: can send me the price of the custom ER4 at SE? Custom as in cable or ear mold?
