Cloud 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2010 Just completed my SOHA II. Tubes used were EH 12AU7. Using Mundorf silver in oil cap for C1. Source: USB monica running 24V Impression: Please pardon my lack of description as i not really good at describing. HUGE HUGE improvement from SOHA + JISBOS even with wima cap at C1. Much wider soundstage and clarity. More details and sound more musical. Bass went deeper without distorting. With MS2, i feel like i am in the front row of the orchestra when listening to Beethoven 9th symphony. Female vocals of Hayley Westenra sounds very sweet and realistic Further improvement when Wima was changed to mundorf silver in oil. Extra clarity and details. SOHA II sounded less veiled. Everything became more transparent. Next upgrade ahead: To try modding the SOHA II for 2.75mA. they say it improves the bass seperation. And adding mojo to monica. Case up this baby. It run quite hot so mayb wont cover it up. [attachmentid=4467] Sorry for the messy table. I highly recommend SOHA II to anyone running SOHA. And especially so if you use grado

Cloud 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) This SOHA II is poisonous. Now i got into the deep hole of tube rolling Some impressions of tubes i used with my alessandro MS2: Electro harmonix 12AU7: A little of everything. Bass was punchy and better extension as compared to RCA clear tops. Mid and high are clear and sweet with no distortion. Yet it does not have any really strong points. Just a average performer imo. RCA 12AU7 Cleartop. Punchy bass and very sweet high. However the bass extension is a little muffled/distorted. Not suitable for pop/rock. For strings and vocals its very very nice. A little wider soundstage. Made in Holland 6DJ8/6922. my tube is labelled hp tube. It used for their scope back then. Manufactured in holland. Very sweet midrange, better bass extension as compared to RCA cleartops. however the high dont sound as sweet as the RCA but its no push over either. the best selling of this beauties is its reproduction of piano pieces. If you are into piano pieces, this is a must get! very fluid sound, its as though you are hearing a live performance. My current favourite Thats about all i have for now. some tubes on its way to me: 12AU7 telefunken smoothplate 12AU7 Amperex holland bungle boy 6DJ8 Mullard. Shall update when i receive them I guess i am in a deep deep hole. Edited March 11, 2010 by Cloud
