nightingelf 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2010 I would like to ask if the Ordnance .22 amp could actually power a DT770-600 ohms. Or is there a need to get better portable amplifiers? I am currently using my Ordnance .22 with Audio Technica Ath-es5. My music genre taste is quite a wide range. While I do listen to classicals, I also listen to acoustic, some times heavy metal, others maybe nu-metal or rock. Its a very wide range.
Plexcio Acoustics 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2010 The .22 like most portable amplifiers will not be able to power a 600ohm headphone.
nightingelf 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2010 Thanks for the reply. So would 250 ohms be okay? Kinda find headphones with semi-open or closed. Would need the soundstage, would also want to have a warm sound.
Plexcio Acoustics 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2010 I would say you will need to crank up the volume really high and I think you should really try a proper desktop amp to power it. It's not really worth it to power full blown headphones with a portable amp. It wouldn't sound like it should.
nightingelf 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2010 Well I just tested the DT770-250 pro with my ordnance .22 amp. I didn't crank the volume up to listen to any music piece and there was people talking all around me at the same time but I could not hear them. The amp knob was at about 9 or 10 oclock position. But it does seem flat which Uncle Wilson said it was due to it being cans for monitoring rather than leisure listening.
