okw3188 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2010 As my Marantz cd player taps the digital signal from iPod directly, I've diy a Cat5e cable to replace the existing iPod charging cable. Although I have read lots of people claiming that in the digital domain, cable quality is not important. The biggest difference is the improvement of soundstage and the bass response, the original iPod cable simply constraint the digital signal, no wonder the Wadia & Onkyo dock sells well! The Audio Hub 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2010 stock cables are crap, if you cut open one..you'd see how tiny the cables are..usually the size of nostril hair.

okw3188 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2011 Nope, it all started when my interest on the Marantz KI pearl lite cd player strikes. The claim is that it is able to accept iPod via its usb input. I've managed to plug my ipod to it and it is able to tap the digital signal from ipod and then convert it with its built-in DAC (far better than the ones Apple uses). You can do a search on google to look for the 2 signals of the 30 pin docking plug. All you need is just 4 wires, i.e. 2 wire for 5V to charge your ipod and 2 wire for the digital output. Have fun!
