i'm going to try the LM833 & NJM4556

the specs on the LM833 puts it as a dedicated "audio" chip, similar to the 2134 but lower slew rated.

the NJM4556 has high current output, about the same as the EL2001cn buffers, will try them in an A47 design (stacked)

both these op-amps are very cheap, below $2 so even if they don't sound good can still use them for board testing smile.gif

Seems there are not a lot of fans of the opa! That?s burrbrown isn?t it?

Just a silly question now, what is the difference between a buffer and an op-amp? I mean in building a PPA I have seen people talk about swapping the buffers for op-amps or something to make it cheaper.

My understanding of a buffer is that it is something that can store a bit of a signal and then release it at a slightly later time. Like a buffer on your CD-R drive!

my A47 variant is using an op-amp as a buffer instead of buffer chips, makes it cheaper then building a Cmoy Variant with 2 buffers

u guys only vote the high-end super Ex op-amps sleep.gif

should giv the cheaper ones a try, u'll be surprise by some of them yes.gif

just need to tweak the design a little biggrin.gif

How about 5532?

is it also from the JRC family?

my NJM4556 JRC is sounding very good, especially when used in A47 variant amp.

it has some of the qualities of the OPA2134, with higher output current , bought from SLT at $1.60 each

NJM4556 having higher THD as compare with 5532, though it can drive higher current.

Why dont have NE5532? I'd vote for that...

Mod Edit:

If you guys want to add in the other op-amps mentioned, I will have to remove the others items (preferably the one's still with '0' votes as the poll can only take 11 items max.
