$100 headphones for portable players

Hi,

 

I need some recommendation for my iriver iMP550 player. Currently using Sony MDR-G72 headphone. Wondering if there's better altermative than that set. Also preferably something that is around S$100 max.

 

Oh I forgot to mention. I'm listening to music mostly from heavier acts like Machine Head, Slipknot, Carcass, ZAO, Nailbomb, Fear Factory, etc...u get the drift. Occassionally listen to something mellow, though.

In view of your specified taste in music and usage, I suggest sticking to close-back headphones.

The Grado SR-60 is a bit over at S$120 but is an open design

The KSC-35 is a clip on and can only be bought nowdays direct from koss.com (it would work out to S$70-S$80 at current exchange rates with shipping and credit card x-change rates).

The Senn PX-200 is a closed back headphone that's offers some isolation (under 99 bucks).

I'm using the PX200 with the IRiver IP400 and it matches very well. Good bass and nice mids. At the price, $90, can't complain.
