Firstly, props to [Top-Gun] for the loan of his Judy Collins CD - Judy Collins sings Leonard Cohen. You guys should check out Judy - voice is like liquid amber, smooth as silk

 

Her voice resembles Cai Qin - who also has an awesome voice. The trouble with Cai Qin's songs is that the instrumental backing is terrible - really distracting

Haven't listened closely to Judy Collins before, but does she belong to same era as Rosemary Clooney? Clooney has a wonderfully rich voice.

 

If you don't mind the retro orchestration, I personally think Karen Carpenter has one of the most beautiful and timeless voices I've come across.

i recently get to know this singer Charlyn "Chan" Marshall aka "Cat Power" when listening to Taiwanese radio. Her song is in the movie "Juno" soundtrack.
