Edwin 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2006 anyone knows whats the total cost of making 1 soha? so far i've seen pple selling 1 soha amp for rm 500, not top notch parts either Seems like a little bit pricey to me. Think a simple one should set you back by about $50 the most. ANy more orders coming in??? Closing this Group Buy real soon...
neutralzz 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2006 wah i m itching to make liao lei. with pcb much easier. it uses the ECC82 rite? i've just gotten a pair of GE ecc83s wonder if the gain might be too high for it..
squalle 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2006 yup ECC83 would have gain that's too high anyway neutralzz, even without PCB SOHA would be easy enough. anyway, now the SOHA acts as pre-amp for me power amp is DIYed mosfet based, currently specced at only 20W/chan. with DC servo as I hate to keep tweaking against the rather bad drift DC servo topology is out of signal path btw and yea, i got the tannoy 605s now it's more like hifi at home , headfi in office haha

rko 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2006 noob on DIY here, tempted to get one of these boards. BTW, what does "assembled" diamond buffer means? One more thing, How does these amps compare to commercially available ones? Thanks alot.

BTW, what does "assembled" diamond buffer means? assembled means that the components for the discrete diamond buffer have been soldered and ready to be just plugged in
Kippei 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2006 How does these amps compare to commercially available ones? Thanks alot Only problem here tat you need to assemmble yourself. This amp is consider good value for cash. Low cost great sound. It even sound above average with a $10 tube.

mb3k 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2006 Noob question, but what "version" of the SOHA board is this? On HeadWize there's different flavours (ie. schematics with JFETS, MOSFETS, etc). Is there a BOM?
