adhoc 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2003 (edited) this thread pertains to 'electronic music'. for all you dinosaurs out there (), it comprises genres of music like house, techno, dance, trance, drums & bass, lounge & ambience. here's what i own and recommend: DJ Tiesto - Majik 6 - Live in Amsterdam DJ Tiesto - In My Memory DJ Tiesto - Summerbreeze Paul van Dyk - Out There And Back Paul Oakenfold - Tranceport anyone have any other recommendations? i prefer slightly up-tempo type trance with less vocals and more synth. or laid back moby style music. not so much for the hybrids. anyone? iconic 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 for phat bass, i like leftfield alot. his 2nd album, the black cover one is very good. crystal method is ok, but their first album 'vegas' is better than the 2nd, tweekend. there are others i like eg dj shadow, but it's more laidback music also chemical brothers, and groove armada - 'goodbye country, hello nightclub' there are other cds i have but can not really think of them right now aphex twin is some more laidback stuff
N@Z 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 Can Leftfield be categorised as electronica? If so then I recommend Massive Attack - Mezannine. I like it cause it's dark & evil sounding. Good for scaring little kiddies!
Blues 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 hyaaa... I am so scared ... joking of course adhoc, you might wanna try Sash! too .. I think it can be classified under electronica.
iconic 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 yeah it's electronica because it is made from electronic applications! yeah massive attack is good, haven't got any of their albums though i had a listen to a 2000 vengaboys cd last night... some of the songs were just terrible, there were 2 non-vocal songs that sounded like your average trance-ish songs, not bad hehe
Blues 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 venga boys sound ok what.. quite 'electronica' hehehe
adhoc 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 guy, you meant sasha instead of sash right?
Blues 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 I think so man.. I dunno my mp3 they are named as sash probably sasha la..
N@Z 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 electronica refers to the genre not specifically use of electronic instruments/applications otherwise all modern music would be called electronica. Go for Mezannine, I haven't had a chance to get their latest CD yet supposed to be good & evil!
Blues 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 yea I agree with N@z.. though I don't listen to so much electronica mostly trance, and techno? hihihi... more of trance. Don't really like techno. Trance is more .. soothing, orgasmic N@z... evil ??
N@Z 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 Techno good for clubbing. Trance soothing? Maybe you mean Ambient.
bulkie 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 Adhoc, If u like electronica.........how could u have missed sasha's airdrawndagger? hehe Seems to me like u like tiesto alot. My fav tiesto album would be "In search of sunrise". Just to list a few of my favourites songs....: Vincent De Moor - Orion City Ferry Corsten aka System F - Out of the blue (its an old trance classic) BT - Godspeed (Hybrid remix) Cape 4 - Africa (Brainstorm remix) Gouryella - Walhalla Liquid Child - Diving Faces Liquid Child - Return to Atlantis Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence (Sasha and Digweed's remix) William Orbit - Barbers Adagio For Strings (ATB Remix Vinyl) As it seems, I prefer old school electronica to new ones. Everytime I buy a new album from a new artist of the current generation, I get real pissed becoz it sounds like sh*t.
N@Z 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 Ohhhh DM! I recommend 'I feel love', kickin'!
adhoc 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2003 (edited) oh i have d/l'ed airdrawndagger and listened to it.. somehow i dont 'click' with it. and in search of sunrise? there are 3 volumes, which one? i'll assume you're talking about the first one right? N@Z, there are many types of trance. there is acid, hard, breaks, progressive, and goa to name a few.. even i am not sure of the differences sometimes. but you do have a point though, the lines are sometimes blurred. i mean, just look at linkin park. what are they?! alternative-neu-metal-rap i read once in a magazine, now what is that! they rap, but dont rap in a typical style. they're not 'hard' enough for metal, not as alternative as say, benson five, and, 'neu'? what's that?! like music got identity crises nowadays. and thanks for the reccommendations bulkie, and speaking of trance classics, another you might want to check out is energy52 by cafe del mar IIRC.
