Custom Earmould anyone?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, i was thinking of doing a mo for custom earmoulds.

For a single order the whole process cost around $180 dollars.

Therefore i just want to gather how many people are interested before i research more on the price for getting the earmoulds done.

Just express your interest here!

the part where u get the shape of our earmould will be done in singapore. Likely one of the clinic in Suntec according to aaron if i didnt remember wrongly. =)

Then SOMEONE will have to help us get the other part done overseas.

Jaben is doing it for 180 bucks for single one. But it comes with colours that you like.

HAHA!! I know! You still didnt get my point. There are 2 steps in the process, one is you got to get the mould from a professional then u send to it overseas (this is the part where a shop have to do it for you).

Will check out the price asap =)

hmm.. okie lets clarify things a bit. Please read the whole post first ya?

From what i know, we need to get the ear impression first from singapore right? This is the part i believe we can cut the most cost if we do together.

2nd part i mentioned already in the above thread, that hopefully SOMEONE can help us deliver it overseas to complete the earmould process. ETC. SE or jaben, im not too sure if they are interested.

That's why i want to find out how many people are interested, if its a large number i believe both of these shops wouldnt mind helping us out.

Query, which oversea company is gonna make the mold?

Wasn't stated in your 1st post. Need to know as I think alot of iem user doesn't like to stick something they dun know of the molder origin inside their ears.

Can this be confirmed? I know its a bad analogy, but it sounds like if you can get enough people to visit the dentist/doctor together, you will be able to get discounts??? Never heard of such arrangements like this before...

this is an interesting idea. and not that no one done that before, just that it is the big brudder's game. For example, carrefour has big sales volume for a product, so they can use this sales volume to negotiate with the product producer to lower the buying price to maximize the return. Well, if the producer refuse, the they will lokk for another producer.

it's the current trend now, that's why ppl start to do MO. MO gives mass purchasing power , and that will give you very good bargaining chip.

Jaben does both EAR IMPRESSIONS and the MOLDS. So why the trouble going all over the place to get impressions done, then to somewhere else to get molds done when you can do them all at one place?

Westone, Shure or Ultimate ears strongly recommends a ear impression ( the mould of your ears ) to be done by a CERTIFIED audiologist, I'm sure aron can do it himself but he doesn't, simply because its not the right thing to do and he doesn't want to be the one who kok up your ear mould. Ear impression done by a certified audiologist cost $60 a pair, and SE charge about $120 ( prices varies) to sent over to Westone in states, Tok2mi should be trying to gather a MO hoping to get a cheaper price I think.

Anyway, I got my earmould from SE together with another 2 more HWZ guys 2 months ago.

Since you're basically getting the ear molds done at one place, and then planning on utilising 1 of the shops here to send the molds out to the US....I forsee the following problems:

1. Why should the shop concerned (Jaben or Stereo Electronics) want to trouble themselves? What's in it for them? I believe in the US, you may go to any certified ear specialist to get your molds and then send it in to Westone yourselves, essentially cutting out the middleman altogether. If you guys are really hard up to save on the service costs of casting the molds - Psst...I'll let you guys in on a secret....if you ask real nice, you may get a very good discount on the service charge from Jaben

2. And who is going to be responsible for after sales service? I guarantee you that there will be some fitting problems when the customs arrive. Would the ear specialist redo the molds for free? The question is moot if you're getting the whole service from one shop. I believe fongalv had his molds redone FOC by Jaben and Westone when it did not fit properly.

And although I'm no certified audiologist, from what I've observed, making the ear impressions is not exactly rocket science...so going to a certified professional may just give you peace of mind, if nothing else :P

If this thread does not get back on track on MO, I will move it to an appropriate forum for further discussion.
