Is that plug supposed to plug into the digital-out of your CD-player? If it is, then my guess is it's a 75ohms shorting plug.

Yes, you are right. If the coaxial circuits are not designed to turn off when not in use (available in some hi-end/mid-end cdps), it may affect the sound quality.

 

For me, placing the plug gave more body to the overall sound.

wow the marantz sure looks good on the inside, esp the power supply. BTW what is the other pair of RCA jacks besides the analogue out?

Great pics Sipher,

 

I've heard a 63KI with 1388.com's clock upgrade, improved power supply , black gate caps in signal path & bipolar polyprop deboupling caps. I think the upgrade was $500 in cost.

 

It was a very enjoyable cd player, very detailed, great timing, i tapped my foot alot to the music.
